Fantasy Basketball: Week Two Schedule

Ryan LesterNov 1, 2009

The Spurs play just four games this week. Can you trust Tim Duncan? Here's a look at the full slate of NBA schedules for the week.

Four Games

Atlanta Hawks
Get your Hawks in your lineup this week. I'm talking Joe Johnson, Josh Smith, Al Horford, Marvin Williams, and Mike Bibby. Jamal Crawford hasn't done much yet, but can be used if you need a boost in threes.

Boston Celtics
KG, Raul Pierce, Ray Allen, and Rajon Rondo should be in all lineups. Eddie House can be used if you need a boost in threes. I don't trust Rasheed Wallace yet.

Denver Nuggets
Carmelo Anthony, Chauncey Billups, Nene, and Kenyon Martin make good plays this week. Ty Lawson is a tougher decision. Wait and see how he plays against Memphis.

Detroit Pistons
The Pistons play four games, but two are against Orlando, which lessens their values this week. I'd use Ben Gordon and Rodney Stuckey with confidence, but after that it gets a little dicey.

Rip can score but does little else. Tayshaun Prince does a little across the board, but doesn't excel in any one category. Big Ben is rebounding like he did in his first run with the Pistons, but does little else. Charlie Villanueva is worth a gamble, but he hasn't had a strong start with the club.

Los Angeles Lakers
I guess you can use Kobe Bryant this week. As long as Andrew Bynum is healthy, feel free to roll with him. Lamar Odom is a nice play as well. Check to see if Pau Gasol's hamstring is OK before inserting him in  your lineup.

If he plays tonight, use him. He seems close so it may be worth gambling on. Even if he misses Tuesday's game against Oklahoma City, he is worth using in three starts.

Memphis Grizzlies
Zach Randolph, Marc Gasol, and Rudy Gay are solid starts. Allen Iverson could return this week, which means he, O.J. Mayo, and Mike Conley may not have enough fantasy value to roll with.

Minnesota Timberwolves
Jonny Flynn is the only one off to a good start. Big Al has been sluggish, but merits fantasy usage. The rest is a mixed bag that have little consistency.

New Jersey Nets
Brook Lopez, Yi Jianlin, Courtney Lee, and Chris Douglas-Roberts make nice plays. Rafer Alston is fantasy worthy this week since Devin Harris is out.

New Orleans Hornets
Gotta love Chris Paul in a four-game week featuring the Knicks. David West and Emeka Okafor also make strong plays. Julian Wright is a possibility.

New York Knicks
Al Harrington, most improved candidate Danilo Gallinari, David Lee, and Winston Chandler are great plays. Chris Duhon is useful if you need assists. Larry Hughes is a possibility with Nate Robinson (ankle) banged up.

Orlando Magic
Dwight Howard is the only sure thing for the Magic this week. If Vince Carter's ankle is OK, then he's a nice play as well. J.J. Redick, Ryan Anderson, and Jameer Nelson are also decent options.

Phoenix Suns
Steve Nash, Amar'e Stoudemire, Leandro Barbosa, Grant Hill, and Jason Richardson make good plays. Channing Frye is useful as well, especially if you need threes.

Sacramento Kings
Kevin Martin, Jason Thompson, and Spencer Hawes are solid plays. Tyreke Evans isn't a bad option as well.

Utah Jazz
Carlos Boozer, Deron Williams, Paul Millsap, and Ronnie Brewer make great plays. Mehmet Okur appears healthy and is a good play. Andrei Kirilenko also makes a good play because he contributes across the board.

Washington Wizards
Gilbert Arenas, Andray Blatche, Randy Foye, Mike Miller, Brendan Haywood, and Caron Butler all make good plays this week.

Three Games

Charlotte Bobcats
With only three games on the schedule, I would use Raymond Felton, Gerald Wallace, and Boris Diaw. Tyson Chandler could help with rebounds, but does so little else that I'd leave him on the bench. Plus, he shoots free throws like Shaq.

Chicago Bulls
Da Bulls have started slow and figure to have one disaster (Cleveland) on their limited schedule. I would hesitate to use any Bulls if you have good options. That said, Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah, John Salmons, Luol Deng, Kirk Hinrich, or Tyrus Thomas could be used depending on your needs.

Cleveland Cavaliers
The Cavs have a weird schedule. The starters will likely get early exits as they beat down Washington and Chicago. They get a bump when they face the defenseless Knicks. Obviously LeBron is a must-start, but Mo Williams is probably the only other Cav I'd use.

Dallas Mavericks
I'd only use Dirk, Shawn Marion, and Jason Kidd with confidence. Jason Terry can score, but a player who averages 12 points per game and plays four games will give you a higher point total.

Golden State Warriors
They play three games, but they are the Warriors so you know they are going to score. Plus, it's a soft schedule with games against Memphis, the Clippers, and Sacramento. Feel free to play Monta Ellis, Stephen Jackson, and Kelenna Azubuike. Stephen Curry, Andris Biedrins, and Anthony Randolph are a step back, but still solid options.

Houston Rockets
Trevor Ariza, Aaron Brooks, and Luis Scola are the only ones I like in their short schedule.

Indiana Pacers
Danny Granger and Troy Murphy are the only ones I would count on this week.

Los Angeles Clippers
Their injuries kind of offset their short schedule. Roll with Chris Kaman, Baron Davis, Eric Gordon, and Marcus Camby.

Miami Heat
Dwyane Wade and Jermaine O'Neal are must-starts at this point. Michael Beasley (points, rebounds) and Mario Chalmers (assists, steals) have some value, and can be used depending on your needs.  Udonis Haslem is a low-end double-double guy that could help your rebounding as well.

Milwaukee Bucks
The Bucks continue their slow start. They have just eight games in the first three weeks. With Michael Redd's sore knee, Brandon Jennings may be the only one I trust, which is scary because he's a Rookie. I believe in Andrew Bogut so I think he'll give you nice rebounds for the week, especially against the Wolves and the Knicks.

Oklahoma City Thunder
They have a tough schedule with games against the Lakers, the Rocket, and the Magic, but obviously you have to roll with Kevin Durant, Jeff Green, and Russell Westbrook. The way Nenad Krstic is playing it would be hard to sit him as well.

Philadelphia 76ers
Andre Iguodala and Lou Williams are must-starts. Elton Brand and Thaddeus Young are decent plays. Marreese Speights has had two big games and a dud, so I'm not sure I'd trust him on a short schedule.

Portland Trailblazers
Brandon Roy and LaMarcus Aldridge are the must plays. Rudy Fernandez can help with threes. Greg Oden can help with boards and blocks. Andre Miller can help in assists. The rest are too inconsistent on a short schedule.

Toronto Raptors
Chris Bosh, Jose Calderon, Andrea Bargnani, and Hedo Turkoglu are decent plays this week.

Two Games

San Antonio Spurs
I would have a hard time using even Tim Duncan this week with just two games. It's hard to sit him though, so he's my only recommended play from the Spurs.
