Arsenal Transfer News: Jean Michael Seri Talks Held in Latest Rumours
Arsenal have held talks with Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri's representatives, according to Sky Sports News:
Arsenal have been on Seri's case for a while but are increasing their efforts in the wake of manager Arsene Wenger's retirement after 22 years in charge.

The north London club's head of football relations, Raul Sanllehi, is accelerating the interest in Seri, per French publication L'Equipe (h/t Get French Football News):
The Gunners showed considerable interest in Seri last summer. They were considering a move late in the transfer window, per James Olley of the London Evening Standard.
Seri would add quality to an Arsenal midfield facing a few tough questions. Jack Wilshere is out of contract, while Aaron Ramsey's deal is up in 2019.
Both players have the technique and vision to define Arsenal's possession-based game. Fortunately, Seri is also comfortable and efficient on the ball.

Last year, Seri said he models his game on that of Barcelona great Xavi, per FourFourTwo's Michael Yokhin: "He is someone I looked at for a long time and analysed his game. Xavi has the ability to calm the game, not by voice but by what he does with the ball. He is thoughtful, makes simple but clever moves, and doesn't lose the ball."
Less the ball-winning destroyer many feel Arsenal need more, Seri—who has a release clause worth £35 million, according to Alex Smith of the Daily Mirror—is a pass master who fits the expressive style of play Wenger leaves behind.
Football.London's Charles Watts believes Seri's attributes would be an asset for the new-look Gunners:
The post-Wenger Arsenal is already taking shape, as Sanllehi and head of scouting Sven Mislintat are trying to secure targets even before a new manager arrives.
Aside from Seri, the pair are pressing ahead to sign Freiburg defender Caglar Soyuncu, who is also valued at £35 million, per Matt Law of the Daily Telegraph. Law noted how managerial candidates weren't asked their opinions on Soyuncu.
Arsenal's new decision-making structure appears set to present Wenger's successor with his team rather than let him choose it. Even so, any manager would surely welcome a player as gifted as Seri.
