Premier League Fixtures: EPL Week 38 Schedule and Score Predictions

Gianni VerschuerenMay 11, 2018

The final matchday of the 2017-18 Premier League season is upon us, with all 20 clubs set to feature on Sunday. While the major battles in the standings have been decided, Chelsea and Liverpool will still have their eyes on a top-four finish and a spot in the UEFA Champions League.

The Reds can book their place in next year's competition by winning this season's final against Real Madrid on May 26, but a draw against Brighton & Hove Albion will also suffice.

The battle against relegation is all but decided, barring a meltdown for the ages, per Team FA:

Here's a look at Sunday's schedule, with all matches kicking off at 3 p.m. BST.

Match (Score Prediction)

Newcastle United vs. Chelsea (1-1)

Southampton vs. Manchester City (1-3)

Swansea vs. Stoke City (0-0)

Tottenham Hotspur vs. Leicester City (2-1)

West Ham United vs. Everton (1-1)

Burnley vs. Bournemouth (0-0)

Crystal Palace vs. West Bromwich Albion (1-0)

Huddersfield vs. Arsenal (1-2)

Liverpool vs. Brighton (2-0)

Manchester United vs. Watford (1-0)

The Premier League's final matchday will mostly be devoid of last-minute drama, as unlike in previous years, the race for the Champions League and fight against relegation are all but over.

At the bottom of the standings, West Bromwich Albion and Stoke City already know their fate, and Swansea City have virtually no chance of saving themselves.

As Arsenal legend Ian Wright highlighted, it has proved to be a great year for the promoted clubs:

The key matches to follow will be the fixture between Liverpool and Brighton and the contest between Chelsea and Newcastle United. The Blues sit two points behind the Reds in the standings, meaning they can jump into fourth place if the Seagulls pull off the upset.

Liverpool are winless in their past three matches, as manager Jurgen Klopp has prioritised the Champions League. The Reds have nearly two weeks between Sunday's game and the final in Kiev, however, so they will likely trot out a strong XI against Brighton.

The tactician has emphasised a focus on Sunday's opponents, not Real Madrid, per the club's Twitter account:

Chelsea won four games in a row before Huddersfield kept them to a 1-1 draw in Week 37, complicating their trip to Newcastle. The Magpies are winless in their past four matches.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will be in charge of his final match with the Gunners, an away trip to Huddersfield Town. The team's away form in 2018 has been dreadful―they have yet to win a single point on the road―but one has to assume the players will be motivated to send their manager out with a bang against a Huddersfield side that just guaranteed its safety.

Champions Manchester City visit Southampton with a chance to push their points total into the triple digits. A win over Saints would put the Sky Blues on 100 points, something no Premier League club has ever done.
