IPL 2018: Highest Run-Scorers, Wicket-Takers, More After Indians vs. Kings XI

Gianni VerschuerenMay 4, 2018

Mumbai Indians' Suryakumar Yadav powered himself into the Orange Cap conversation on Friday, scoring 57 runs in an Indian Premier League victory over Kings XI Punjab.

The 27-year-old now ranks fourth among all batsmen in run-scoring and is the only Mumbai player inside the top 10.

Mumbai's bowlers have enjoyed a more productive season so far, and both Mayank Markande and Hardik Pandya added to their collection of wickets. Indians (176 for four) beat Kings XI (174 for six) by six wickets (with six balls remaining).

Here are the top statistical performers of the 2018 season so far. For the full stats, visit IPLT20.com.

Batsmen (Player, Team, Runs, Average)

1. Ambati Rayudu, Chennai Super Kings, 391, 43.44

2. Rishabh Pant, Delhi Daredevils, 375, 41.66

3. Virat Kohli, Royal Challengers Bangalore, 391, 58.16

4. Suryakumar Yadav, Mumbai Indians, 340, 37.77

5. MS Dhoni, Chennai Super Kings, 329, 82.25

Bowlers (Player, Team, Runs, Wickets)

1. Trent Boult, Delhi Daredevils, 300, 13

2. Mayank Markande, Mumbai Indians, 230, 12

3. Hardik Pandya, Mumbai Indians, 216, 12

4. Siddarth Kaul, Sunrisers Hyderabad, 220, 11

5. Umesh Yadav, Royal Challengers Bangalore, 260, 11

Punjab's Chris Gayle bagged a half-century during the first innings on Friday, but his knock was overshadowed by that of Yadav, who bagged 57 from 42 to power the chase early.

Per ESPNcricinfo, he was clearly the key man for the visitors in Indore:

Mumbai had done a solid job with the ball after winning the toss, as all but two of their bowlers finished with economy rates in the single digits. Markande and Pandya didn't take many wickets―just one each―but their work in preventing runs more than made up for it.

The final target of 175 was well in reach of a lineup as deep and talented as that of Mumbai, and Rohit Sharma and Krunal Pandya took the defending champions past the line in the final overs.

With the win, MI moved level on points with Royal Challengers Bangalore, and in fifth place, they still have a chance of finishing in the top four and the play-offs. Mumbai sit four points behind the duo of Kolkata Knight Riders and Kings XI, but the latter side still has a match in hand. MI host KKR in the first game on Sunday.

Punjab could afford to drop a result, as they'll still face bottom Rajasthan Royals twice, including in the second game on Sunday.
