Travis d'Arnaud to Undergo Season-Ending Tommy John Surgery on Elbow Injury
New York Mets catcher Travis d'Arnaud will undergo Tommy John surgery on his injured right elbow.
Per MLB.com's Anthony DiComo, d'Arnaud is going to miss the rest of the 2018 season as a result of the procedure and rehab.
D'Arnaud's decision to have surgery comes two days after the Mets placed him on the 10-day disabled list with a partially torn ulnar collateral ligament in his throwing elbow.

Injuries have been a problem for d'Arnaud dating back to his time in the minor leagues. The 29-year-old has only played in more than 100 games four times since 2007, including twice in six MLB seasons.
Last year was d'Arnaud's most productive as a big leaguer. He hit a career-high 16 homers and slugged a career-best .443 in 112 games.
Catcher is a position the Mets are sorely lacking depth early in 2018. Kevin Plawecki, who has been their primary starter this season, is also on the 10-day DL with a hairline fracture in his left hand.
Tomas Nido is currently the only backstop on the Mets' 25-man roster with d'Arnaud and Plawecki sidelined.
