EPL Week 33 Predictions: Premier League Picks, Key Players and Fixtures

Tom SunderlandApr 1, 2018

Manchester City host rivals Manchester United on Saturday and can clinch their first Premier League title in four years if they defeat the Red Devils in what would be dream circumstances for Pep Guardiola's men.

Victory in Week 33 would put the Citizens out of reach with six games left to play and be the culmination of arguably the most dominant Premier League campaign we have ever seen.

The prospective title tilt at the Etihad Stadium isn't the only fixture courting attention in Week 33, however, as Liverpool travel to face Everton in Saturday's Merseyside Derby, with 26 points separating the two.

Players to Watch

Kevin De Bruyne, Manchester City

He's been the man to watch all season, but if there were one match in which you should pay particular attention to player of the season front-runner Kevin De Bruyne, this is it.

De Bruyne was an important figure for City when they were 2-1 victors at Old Trafford in December, and he again demonstrated why he's so important to his side during Saturday's convincing 3-1 win at Everton, per BT Sport Score:

The Belgium international has featured as the jewel in City's midfield crown while United's has endured inconsistency this season, with manager Jose Mourinho struggling to get the best out of Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic.

There has been no such uncertainty at the Etihad Stadium, with De Bruyne, David Silva and Fernandinho all in sync in their roles, as The Times' Alex Kay-Jelski recently illustrated:

De Bruyne knows his side are reaching a boiling point, with Guardiola edging towards his maiden league triumph in English football, per Andy Hampson of the Press Association:

As essential as every cog is in the Citizens setup—its efficacy runs as a sum of its parts—De Bruyne stands out, and he's of such a high calibre one would expect him to decide a clash against a team as revered as United.

It will be interesting to see how Mourinho sets up his midfield at the Etihad, with United's biggest rivals three points from silverware. Regardless, expect De Bruyne to thrive under the spotlight.

Andrew Robertson, Liverpool

Almost one full season on from his £10 million move to Liverpool from Hull City, Andrew Robertson is a popular player among fans and pundits alike.

The Scotland international has claimed the left-back spot and travels to Goodison on Saturday hoping to give Liverpool fans further reason to adore him. Football writer Dharma Bhagalia is an admirer:

Robertson popped up with a game-winning assist at Crystal Palace on Saturday, supplying the cross for Mohamed Salah to poke home the late decider at Selhurst Park.

So focused have Liverpool been on operating down their wings that the full-backs have become a key aspect of their attack, as Sky Sports MNF highlighted:

Everton have a fit Seamus Coleman back on the right side of defence, but Robertson will be hoping to catch winger Theo Walcott leaving his defender short of cover.

Robertson has started twice against the Toffees this season and is unbeaten in those contests, and he will be looking to keep it that way with a Week 33 win.
