Fantasy Football Week Seven Injury Report: Boldin, Gore, Manning, and More
The NFL released the early Week Seven injury report yesterday, so let’s take a look at which players are on it that fantasy owners need to be concerned about (and should quickly grab a replacement) and who you can safely leave in your lineup:
Anquan Boldin Did Not Practice Due to an Ankle Injury
He was quoted in the Arizona Republic (click here for the article) as saying, “It probably will be a game-time decision.” Certainly not what owners want to hear, especially since the Cardinals are playing on Sunday night.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
We’ll be following the news closely, but having an alternative playing in that game for a last minute switch may be the best bet, just to cover yourself. Hakeem Nicks and Jerheme Urban are both potential players on the waiver wire you may be able to use.
Frank Gore Practiced in Full
It was expected that he would return in fantasy Week Seven and that appears to be coming to fruition.
He is a must play in all formats, especially against the Texans, as we had him ranked as the No. 15 in the initial Top 40 Running Back rankings (click here to view). Glen Coffee’s potential value falls off the table with this news.
Eli Manning Was Limited in Practice Due to a Foot Injury
He played against the Saints, is there any doubt he’s going to be in there against the Cardinals? He’s a great option against the porous Cardinals' passing defense.
Anthony Gonzalez Did Not Participate in Practice Due to a Knee Injury
Initially it was thought that he may be able to return coming out of the bye week, but that does not appear to be the case now.
Austin Collie’s potential value just took a small step up. Initially he was rated as the No. 35 wide receiver (click here for the full rankings), but he’s guaranteed to move up a handful of spots now that he is the second wide receiver going against a weak St. Louis defense.
Half the Browns Missed Practice Due to the Flu
OK, while that may be a bit of an exaggeration, there were 11 Browns players who missed practice due to illness, including TE Robert Royal, WR Chansi Stuckey, and RB Jerome Harrison.
None of them have much fantasy value at this point, so the news should not alter your roster planning.
Joshua Cribbs Missed Practice Due to a Knee Injury
He has just nine receptions on the season as his true value lays in the return game. That’s not worth gambling on for your fantasy roster. Healthy or not, leave him on the waiver wire.
Percy Harvin Was Limited in Practice Due to a Shoulder Injury
If he’s going to play or not, we just don’t know yet. With just 20 catches for 243 yards over his first six games, he hasn’t really produced at such a high level. He’s a borderline No. 3 receiver this week if healthy, so keep track of the news here.
Adrian Peterson Was Limited in Practice Due to an Ankle Injury
No need to worry here. He’s going to play and be among the top running backs on Sunday.
Rashard Mendenhall Was Limited in Practice Due to a Knee Injury
This is another injury that is not very serious. It has already been said that he is going to be playing this week so there is no need to worry. He’s a must-use option in all formats as a top 20 option.
Donnie Avery Did Not Participate in Practice Due to a Hip Injury
He’s hoping to play this week, but time will certainly tell. The Rams are a weak offense to begin with, so he certainly is not worth depending on come Sunday, even if he is healthy.
Julian Edelman Did Not Participate in Practice Due to a Broken Forearm
In fact, his season is over and with Dante Stallworth released, the Patriots are actually thin at the receiver spot. All that means is more opportunities for Wes Welker and Randy Moss.
Michael Clayton Was Limited in Practice Due to a Hamstring Injury
With just 11 catches and 154 yards on the season, does anyone really care?
Trent Edwards Did Not Practice Due to a Concussion
He is not expected to play this week, setting the stage for Ryan Fitzpatrick to take the start. Edwards has been bad this season, as he hasn’t been able to get the ball consistently to Terrell Owens and Lee Evans. If Fitzpatrick has a big game, could a full-time change be in the cards? It certainly wouldn’t surprise me.
Jerricho Cotchery Did Not Practice Due to a Hamstring Injury
Early word this week was he was feeling better, but his lack of practice time on Wednesday has to be slightly concerning. We’ll see if he practices today, but keep a close eye on the news surrounding him before committing to him this week.
Braylon Edwards Was Limited in Practice Due to a Quadriceps Injury
Unlike his teammate, Edwards is expected to play so don’t get too concerned here.
Darren McFadden Is Already out for Sunday
This isn’t news, so you should already have a replacement in place.
Michael Turner Was Limited in Practice Due to a Chest Injury
Not to worry in the least. There has been no indication that he won’t be in the starting lineup on Sunday.
Ahmad Bradshaw Was Limited in Practice Due to an Ankle Injury
This is a weekly occurrence, so nothing new here. He’s going to be playing on Sunday.
Mario Manningham Practiced in Full, Despite a Back Injury
Injury forced him out early in Week Six, but practicing in full is certainly a good sign. Early signs point to him being a solid play this week.
What are your thoughts on the injury news? Which do you find most troubling? Who are you not concerned about?
