Chelsea Coaches: Unrest at Stamford Bridge
Chelsea FC has plenty of cherished memories from their two most fruitful campaigns, from 2004 to 2006. Back to back Premier League titles, two Carling cups and an F.A Cup; those days were hyacinthine for the Blues.
But now their Mastermind, the self-proclaimed "Special One," has parted company with them, and Chelsea are seeing blue themselves. With no wins in six games (excepting the last win against Bolton), the Chelsea faithful are getting indignant about their inept new coach Avram Grant, who has had no experience in club-level football.
Yesterday, anonymous reports revealed that Chelsea will sign Ajax coach Ten Cate to advocate the tactics and team management of Avram Grant (and his Scottish assistant, Michael Clarke). Unquestionably, Ten Cate is an arduous servant, as he proved under Riijkard in Barcelona. But will this solve the conundrum Chelsea FC are in?

Personally, I would have opted for Ten Cate as the first team coach of Chelsea (just think of Avram as his subordinate). Why? Coz at least he has some club-level knack for management. You can reject my argument that assistants do not deserve to be at the throne, but remember Carlos Queroz's one year spell at Real Madrid? Was that not horrendous?
However, let's talk about the inevitable. There's a possiblity of yet another setback for the Blues if the manager does not develop a good rapport with them, simply because they are going to sort out the same thing in collaboration.
It would have been a different matter if Ten Cate was an Attacker's or a Midfielder's Coach. What's Peter Kenyon doing? Has he lost his good sense? Or it is the Russian playmaker again? Roman literally gifted the managerial post to Avram as a token of their friendship.
As it stands, I dont see anything for the Chelsea fans to cheer about.
