Why the Thunder can cover the spread
Oklahoma City made a statement in the first meeting between the teams this year, winning for the first time in the series since Kevin Durant left for Golden State.
The Warriors won all four meetings last season by an average of almost 20 points, but the Thunder have made some significant changes since then, adding Paul George and Carmelo Anthony to help take some pressure off of Westbrook.
George and Anthony combined for 42 points and 16 rebounds in the first meeting as well to back up their teammate.
Why the Warriors can cover the spread
Golden State is coming off a 115-108 road loss to the Denver Nuggets on Saturday, falling for the second time in three games.
While head coach Steve Kerr said his team is tired and cannot wait for the NBA All-Star break in a couple weeks, the league champions still have the best record and should be extra motivated to avenge the earlier loss at Oklahoma City.
The Warriors had gone 7-0 straight up and against the spread in the previous seven meetings before that setback, according to the OddsShark NBA Database, with Durant playing for the Thunder in three of them.
Smart betting pick
Every time bettors seem to underestimate Golden State, the team comes through with a monster performance to remind everyone they have won the NBA title in two of the past three years.
This is the first of a four-game homestand and a nationally televised matchup. Even though the Warriors have failed to beat the spread in six of their last eight games despite going 5-3 SU, they will make a statement this time and cover.
NBA betting trends
Oklahoma City is 1-4 ATS in its last five games.
Golden State is 2-6 ATS in its last eight games.
The total has gone under in six of Golden State's last nine games.
