Super Bowl 52 Prize Money: Bonus Payout Distribution for Eagles vs. Patriots

Alec NathanJan 28, 2018

The New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles will vie for the Vince Lombardi Trophy when Super Bowl LII kicks off Feb. 4 at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, and there will be significant financial ramifications at play.

According to CBSSports.com's Will Brinson, players on the winning side will take home a $102,000 bonus, while members of the losing squad will pocket $56,000 for their efforts.

On top of that, players on both the Eagles and Patriots have already earned $79,000 stemming from bonuses they received after the divisional round ($28,000) and their respective conference championship games ($51,000).

For the Super Bowl winners, that amounts to a total bonus of $181,000 per player over three games. The losers, then, will settle for a cumulative paycheck of $135,000.

And thanks to stipulations in the league's collective bargaining agreement, one former member of the Patriots stands to be six figures richer by the time the postseason comes to a close.

As Brinson pointed out, Jimmy Garoppolo—who was shipped from the Patriots to the San Francisco 49ers in advance of the trade deadline—is eligible to receive conference championship and Super Bowl checks.

As a result, he's slated to rake in anywhere between $107,000 and $153,000 total depending on the outcome of the title tilt.

In other words, Garoppolo still has a few thousand reasons to pull for the Patriots as they eye their sixth championship.
