Arsenal Transfer News: Latest Rumours on Cristian Pavon and Calum Chambers
Arsenal will reportedly have to pay €35 million (£31 million) if they want to sign Cristian Pavon from Boca Juniors, while West Bromwich Albion are said to be keen on Calum Chambers.
The Gunners want to sign Pavon as a replacement for Alexis Sanchez, and Boca president Daniel Angelici was asked if the club have received an offer from Arsene Wenger's side.
"The club has not received anything for Pavon. Unless a club comes along and pays the €35 million release clause, I don't think he will leave this year," he told Argentinian radio station Continental 590 (h/t ESPN FC's Adriana Garcia).

Scouted Football showed Pavon's record for Boca in the league this season:
Tifo Football's Phil Costa said Arsenal are right to be looking at the 21-year-old:
Yet even if Arsenal do activate Pavon's release clause, the Argentina international is concerned a move may hinder his FIFA 2018 World Cup hopes and would need assurances from coach Jorge Sampaoli, per The Independent's Ed Malyon.
Club president Angelici has also played down speculation Pavon could leave Boca any time soon, per Goal's Chris Wheatley:
If Sanchez does leave Arsenal in January, a replacement will be needed, and Pavon is available at a reasonable price in today's market.
While Boca obviously want to keep the forward, if Arsenal do activate his release clause, the decision would then be up to the player.
The Gunners may also need to provide guarantees of first-team football if they are to tempt him to north London in January.
Meanwhile, Arsenal remain interested in West Brom's Jonny Evans and have made an offer including Mathieu Debuchy, per David Woods at the Daily Star.
However, manager Alan Pardew "prefers Chambers," although it is unclear whether Wenger would be willing to allow the former Southampton man to leave.

The 22-year-old has made just three Premier League starts this season, one of which came against West Brom where he was penalised for a handball that led to a late Albion equaliser.
Scouted Football said the decision was ridiculous and should not detract from some promising displays:
Chambers has also come in for praise from manager Wenger, per the club's official Twitter account:
A frequent criticism of the England international is his lack of pace, and he has failed to make much of an impression at Arsenal since joining in 2014.
However, Chambers only signed a new two-year contract extension in October, which suggests the club do still have faith in him to make the grade at the Emirates Stadium.
