Thursday Recap
Alcinas saw off No. 26 seed Reyes in Thursday’s opener, winning 3-1 to advance to Round 2 for the first time.
Alcinas won the first two sets and although Reyes pulled one back to take it to a fourth set, his countryman did enough to seal victory.
Another seed was sent tumbling swiftly afterwards as Richardson dumped out No. 18 seed Huybrechts, in straight sets.
It was a night to forget for Huybrechts who had a dismal evening, as shown by Live Darts:
Meanwhile, Richardson managed a 98 average and was in simply brilliant form, as shown by The Sportsman:
Petersen certainly made his presence felt with another walk on that thrilled the crowds at Alexandra Palace.
Sky Sports Darts showed how the African Warrior entertained the fans:
The game lived up to its lively introduction with Webster showing no mercy by taking the first set 3-1 and then clinching the second with a superb 160 checkout.
Webster had chances to win it in straight sets but missed two match darts in the third and Peterson made him pay by taking the set.
It got even better in the fourth as Peterson levelled to force a decider, as shown by PDC Darts:
However, the Demolition Man had enough to finally clinch victory and prevent Peterson from completing what would have been a memorable comeback.
Wright finished off the evening session against Portela, who made history by becoming the first Brazilian ever to play at the World Darts Championship.
Portela got off to the perfect start winning the first leg, but Snakebite stormed back to take the first set 3-1.
However, the 29-year-old produced some inspired darts to level the match at 1-1, as shown by PDC Darts:
However, Snakebite hit back to move 2-1 up before clinching the fourth to set up a second-round clash with Jamie Lewis.
