Michael Porter Jr. Won't Play for Missouri vs. Wagner Due to Leg Injury
Missouri Tigers forward Michael Porter Jr. reportedly won't play Monday against the Wagner Seahawks.
Sean Farnham of ESPN reported the news, noting Porter played just two minutes in Missouri's season-opening 74-59 win over Iowa State on Friday, because of a left leg injury. According to Farnham, Porter is considered day-to-day.
According to the Associated Press (h/t ESPN.com), Porter was seen with an ice pack on his hip during Friday's contest. He hit his only shot from the field and grabbed two rebounds in the victory.

The Tigers missed the last four NCAA tournaments, but expectations are high this season, largely because of Porter's presence. He was a 5-star prospect and the No. 2 overall player in the class of 2017, per 247Sports' composite rankings. Jeremy Woo of Sports Illustrated pointed to Kevin Durant comparisons while acknowledging how difficult it will be to live up to them.
The comparisons are there, though, because of Porter's ability to shoot from outside, handle the ball and use his 6'10" length on defense to bother opposing shooters.
The fact he is only day-to-day is welcome news for Missouri, considering he is key to the team's success.
Missouri will face a challenge Thursday when it hits the road to square off with the Utah Utes of the Pac-12 and figures to need Porter more in that contest than Monday's.
