Star Sixes 2017: Live Stream, TV Info, Schedule for Legends Football Tournament
The inaugural Star Sixes, a six-a-side international football tournament featuring a host of legends including Alessandro Del Piero, Carles Puyol, Roberto Carlos and Steven Gerrard, will begin on Thursday, July 13 through to Sunday, July 16.
The event will take place at the O2 in London, where Sky Sports will be providing full coverage of every match. As such, it can also be streamed live, via Sky Go.
England will kick off the tournament against Spain at 7:30 p.m. BST on Thursday, the first of six 20-minute group matches, with Brazil and Italy closing the proceedings with their clash at 10:15 p.m. France vs. Portugal and England vs. Scotland will bookend Friday's action at the same times.
Saturday night will see the quarter-finals played after the final round of group games are completed that afternoon from 1 p.m., with the remainder of the knockout stages taking place on Sunday evening from 7 p.m.
The full schedule can be found at the event's official website, while its Twitter feed shared a look at the teams and some of the stars due to feature:
Each team will bring a squad of 10 fully capped international players into the tournament with rolling substitutions permitted, and at the knockout phase the matches will be extended to 15 minutes each way.
England star Rio Ferdinand is relishing the prospect of potentially facing Brazil legend Rivaldo:
He and his fellow Three Lions, including Gerrard, Michael Owen, David James and Emile Heskey, will need to navigate their group of Spain, Scotland and Mexico if they're to do so.
Meanwhile Michael Ballack will be hoping his Germany side, in which he'll feature alongside the likes of Jens Lehmann and Dietmar Hamann, can inflict a small modicum of revenge on France for the defeat inflicted by Les Bleus at UEFA Euro 2016.
Per Star Sixes' official website, he said: "This is a chance for revenge after losing in the Euros. We may not have the same rivalry now we are retired, but everyone is preparing for the tournament and will have that competitiveness again."
France might hold the same hope when they take on Portugal, who beat them in the final of the European Championship last year.
With some of the game's biggest stars of yesteryear featuring, it's set to be a mouthwatering competition.
