Stephen Vogt Claimed by Brewers After Being DFA'd by Athletics
The Milwaukee Brewers announced on Sunday that they claimed former Oakland Athletics catcher Stephen Vogt off waivers.
Vogt, 32, is hitting .217 with four home runs and 20 RBI this season. The Athletics designated him for assignment on Thursday, according to Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com.

As Crasnick noted: "[Vogt] was an American League All-Star in 2015 and 2016 and a fan favorite in Oakland, but he became expendable this year when the A's decided to give Bruce Maxwell, 26, the majority of the team's at-bats at catcher."
While Vogt provided pop in the lineup for the Athletics, hitting a combined 32 homers and 127 RBI in his All-Star seasons, he also was a liability defensively, allowing opposing baserunners to successfully steal 25 straight times against him, per Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle.
Indeed, Vogt's defensive WAR for his career is merely 0.7, per Baseball Reference.
In Milwaukee, Vogt likely will split time behind the plate with Manny Pina, and he could spend some time at first base and in the outfield as well. If he regains his pop from the previous two seasons, however, he could give the Brewers a nice boost on offense.
