LeBron James Passes Reggie Miller on Postseason 3-Point List
Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James finished Thursday's NBA Finals Game 1 against the Golden State Warriors converting just two of his six three-point attempts. However, while the 113-91 result wasn't ideal, his shots boosted him to 321 postseason three-point attempts made, which pushed him past Reggie Miller (320) for second on the All-Time list, per Sportsnet Stats.
With Game 1 in the books, LeBron and company will need to regather themselves after taking a shellacking at the hands of Golden State.
The phenom took the league by storm early in his career, leading the Cavaliers to the playoffs in just his third year in the NBA. He hasn't connected on a ton of threes in any postseason, making no more than 36 shots from deep during a single run. He accomplished that in 2012-13 as a member of the Miami Heat but stands a good chance at besting that mark with 34 made from deep already this year.
James' teams have made the playoffs in 12 of his 14 campaigns, winning it all on three different occasions prior to this season. His most recent team victory came against the Warriors, recovering from a 3-1 deficit in the series to bring the city of Cleveland its first championship in 52 years.
Both the Cavaliers and the Warriors have cruised through the postseason to reach this point, losing a combined one game in the first three rounds en route to the rematch. Cleveland dropped Game 3 against the Celtics before winning Game 4 and 5 to close it out.
The Finals this season sports seven representatives from this season's All-Star festivities, including LeBron, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love from the Cavaliers and Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and Kevin Durant from the Warriors. LeBron has already collected three Finals MVP awards, but he will once again have to overcome a series deficit against a star-studded Golden State roster to take home another.
