Bayern Munich Transfer News: Latest Rumours on Willian and Emil Forsberg
Bayern Munich reportedly want Chelsea winger Willian to replace fellow Brazilian Douglas Costa this summer. The Bundesliga giants are said to be keen to refresh their options on the flanks and see Willian as a worthy choice, despite his proposed cost of £43 million.
German source Abendzeitung (h/t Richard Forrester of The Sun) said Willian, who is contracted with Chelsea until 2020, is being monitored as Bayern step up their efforts to get younger on the wings.
Bayern continue to rely on 33-year-old Arjen Robben and 34-year-old Franck Ribery out wide. Manager Carlo Ancelotti wants to change that, but the club doesn't seem to see Costa as an option.

In fact, the South American is wanted in Serie A, according to Forrester: "Speed merchant Douglas Costa is also rumoured to be on his way, with Italian giants Juventus interested in landing his signature."
Forrester also noted how Bayern would have a strong hand in an any attempts to sign Willian, despite the player also being coveted by Manchester United: "Manchester United have been linked with a switch for Willian, but the Blues are unlikely to sell to a Premier League rival."
Willian would surely be an asset at Bayern, since he has lost none of his knack for finding the net. The 28-year-old wasn't a regular with Premier League champions Chelsea this season, but he still managed to be prolific, per Sky Sports Statto:
The versatile Brazilian forward, who can operate wide, though the middle or behind a striker, would suit Ancelotti's fluid tactics at Bayern. However, the Bundesliga champions will likely find it hard to convince the former Shakhtar Donetsk man to leave Chelsea.
Willian recently made it clear he wants to stay at Stamford Bridge and is even targeting winning next season's UEFA Champions League with the Blues, per Metro's Sean Kearns: "I have a great relationship with all the people that work at Chelsea and the fans, too. They have been great to me since I joined. Chelsea are back in the Champions League next season and I am looking forward to playing in it again. It is a big, big target for us, and we have to look to win that trophy next year."
If Bayern can't sign Willian, the club may already have an alternative in mind.
Bayern Reportedly Match Offer for RB Leipzig Ace
Bayern have reportedly matched Arsenal's offer for RB Leipzig creative ace Emil Forsberg. The Gunners are rumoured to have bid £30 million for Forsberg on the say so of manager Arsene Wenger, but Munich have done the same, per Italian source Calciomercato (h/t Alex Smith of the Daily Mirror).
Forsberg's agent, Hasan Cetinkaya, has offered encouragement to any potential suitors by revealing his client is ready to test himself at a bigger club, per an interview with Swedish publication Aftonbladet (h/t the Daily Mirror's Alex Richards):
"I will not comment on the clubs involved. There are big clubs who are very interested in Emil. He has made history in Germany. Of course, you know RB want to keep Emil, you need to constantly make sure to make Emil satisfied. He has paid back the club ten-fold. Maybe it's time to test himself at a big club."
The timing of these remarks is somewhat strange since Forsberg helped Leipzig qualify for next season's Champions League. However, it's little wonder some big clubs are keen after the gifted 25-year-old Sweden international scored eight goals and supplied 19 assists in the Bundesliga, per WhoScored.com.
Bayern have a habit of snapping up the best talent on offer in their own league. The dominant club in Germany has already agreed deals for Hoffenheim duo Niklas Sule and Sebastian Rudy.
Forsberg belongs among the leading lights in the Bundesliga, but both Leipzig and Bayern may struggle to compete with the riches on offer in England's top flight if Premier League clubs come calling.
What is clear is how the interest in both Willian and Forsberg proves Bayern are serious about refreshing their choices on the flanks this summer.
