WWE Raw: Potential Spoilers, Rumors, News and Preview for May 8

Ryan DilbertMay 8, 2017

The Golden Truth will look to pull off a miracle when WWE Raw travels to the United Kingdom Monday.

Tag Team Turmoil match to decide the next No. 1 contenders for the Raw Tag Team Championship is poised to unfold inside London's O2 Arena. R-Truth and Goldust are among the duos involved in the bout and are hoping to follow in Breezango and Jinder Mahal's footsteps as the next out-of-left-field challenger to emerge.

Elsewhere on the show, Raw will continue the early build for the June 4 Extreme Rules pay-per-view. That is sure to include women's champ Alexa Bliss rankling her competition, The Miz renewing his hunt for the Intercontinental Championship and Apollo Crews trying to make his mark in his new home.

Fans will get to find out how it all goes down early as WWE will tape Raw in the afternoon due to being in the U.K.

Spoilers will pop up around the internet soon after. Before that, read on for a preview of Monday's show complete with rumors and hints of what's to come courtesy of backstage reports and the Raw preview on WWE.com.

Raw will then air on tape delay in the U.S. on Monday at 8 p.m. ET on USA Network.

News, Potential Spoilers

It's not clear when we will see Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns again.

The two titans looked to destroy each other in a backstage fight at the Payback PPV on April 30. Raw general manager Kurt Angle then announced both men had suffered serious injuries, making it unclear if either Strowman or Reigns were legitimately hurt.

About the confusion, Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com wrote last week: "We have heard nothing to indicate the Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns injuries described by Kurt Angle on Raw were anything but storyline."

In an update on Figure Four Online, Dave Meltzer noted: "Braun Strowman and Roman Reigns are appearing at all the Raw shows on the European tour even though they made up injuries to both of them on TV."

In that case, Strowman and Reigns may stay off TV to sell their injuries, but a brawl between two banged-up warriors certainly isn't out of the question.

Emma, meanwhile, may be held out of action with a real-life injury. Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet reported on Sunday that the Aussie star hurt her shoulder during a tag team match.

"Our sources tell us doctors checked out Emma's injury once she got backstage, but she'll need to wait on official word from their team before knowing how serious it might be," Satin wrote.

Emma mentioned the situation on Twitter:

Stephanie McMahon could show up in her stead.

As Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com pointed out: "McMahon noted she is making talk show appearances in London, so she is around to appear on Raw if WWE Creative needs her." The Raw commissioner hasn't appeared on the show since WrestleMania.

Raw Streaks

An Apollo Crews push appears to be in progress.

After spinning his wheels on SmackDown, Crews has aligned himself with Titus O'Neil on Raw and started winning again. He knocked off Heath Slater last Monday to win his second consecutive match.

Per CageMatch.net, he had gone 1-7 in the last eight matches on SmackDown. The red brand is treating him better thus far.

That may lead to a spot on the Extreme Rules card and Crews' first one-on-one PPV bout since Backlash last September.

Former cruiserweight champion Brian Kendrick looks to be heading in the opposite direction. He's less of a priority of late, evidenced by his recent win-loss record.

As seen on CageMatch.net, Kendrick has lost four matches in a row, including his last three 205 Live bouts. His record on Raw in 2017 is 2-3. He's fallen behind Austin Aries and TJ Perkins in the cruiserweight hierarchy.

On to Extreme Rules

The Miz now has a date with Dean Ambrose for the Intercontinental Championship.

He outlasted both Finn Balor and Seth Rollins in a Triple Threat match last Monday to earn the opportunity. The feud between The Miz and Ambrose is now sure to take off.

The Raw preview on WWE.com asked: "When will the boastful 'must-see' Superstar get his title bout?"

That most likely answer is Extreme Rules. WWE has a number of weeks to hype up that clash and escalate the animosity between these two men. Fans can count on The Miz antagonizing The Lunatic Fringe on a regular basis until that event.

There isn't an official challenger yet for Bliss, but signs point to Bayley looking to reclaim the Raw Women's Championship.

Bayley hasn't been awarded her rematch after losing the title. And Bliss made sure to mentally torture The Huggable One after taking the gold from her.

Bliss, though, has her number so far. She beat Bayley at Payback, then pinned her on the most recent edition of Raw in tag team action. Bayley will need to recover some momentum in London and beyond.

The tag team title situation will be cleared up by the end of the night.

Last Monday, Angle booked a Tag Team Turmoil match to determine the No. 1 contenders for The Hardy Boys' titles. Five teams will compete in the gauntlet-style contest—The Golden Truth, Enzo Amore and Big Cass, Heath Slater and Rhyno, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows, Cesaro and Sheamus.

Cesaro and Sheamus are in the midst of a feud with the Hardy brothers after attacking them at Payback. They will enter as the favorites.

The Golden Truth are the bout's biggest long shots, but the spotlight the duo received last week hinted at a possible upset. R-Truth and Goldust's request for a title shot sparked the idea for the Tag Team Turmoil match.

Could Raw follow SmackDown's lead and try to make something out of a middling, low-card act?

WWE fans won't have to wait long to find out. By the time Raw wraps up in London, the Extreme Rules card will be far clearer.
