Rangers-Ducks: Anaheim Outshot and Shutout

SKOct 11, 2009

I'm definitely glad this road trip is over.

I'll admit, the Ducks are coming home better than expected especially after what happened against Minnesota to start out the trip (and the way the home opener went).

But after watching tonight's loss, it's time for them to come home and get support from their fans.

As far as tonight's game goes, I've got a bone to pick with you, gentlemen.

When the first period is over and the score is 0-0, I can handle that.

But when the first period is over, and I check the boxscore and it reads: New York SOG - 13; Anaheim SOG - 1, then we've got problems.

So, thanks to Ryan Carter for taking the shot but, Ducks, HELLO?!  Boys, where are you?

Remember yesterday when we had that discussion about not showing up until the second period? You really need to work on that.

JS Giguere was, lets face it, very lucky there in the first period.  He faced more than his fair share of quality scoring opportunities.  In the second, he continued to make great saves in close.

Even in the third, Giguere managed to keep the Ducks close, and was the victim of an unfortunate redirect off of Scott Niedermayer's stick for what would be the eventual game winner.

Other than the few lucky posts, and the missed opportunities by the Rangers, Giguere did play a very solid game in the net. It's just unfortunate how very little can be said about the team playing in front of him.

Having played two games in less than 24 hours is probably a valid argument, I'm just not going to use it.

Here's hoping that Todd Marchant is just a little shaken up and not seriously injured. Marchant has been dominant in faceoffs and had a team high four shots on goal in tonight's loss.

Remember, taking one shot in a period is a big deal right now.

Same can be said for James Wisniewski.  Hearing of his shoulder injury is very troubling right now for these Ducks who need all of the defensive help they can get.

Physically, the Rangers completely dominated the Ducks and never gave them the opportunity to control the puck.  For a team that is so offensively based, this scares me.

The Rangers didn't necessarily play a great game. They just played much better than an unmotivated Anaheim.

On a side note, someone might want to call Bobby Ryan, let him know the season has started.

Something tells me he's off hanging out with Ryan Getzlaf somewhere because neither of them have been to any of the games so far.

GO DUCKS!!!
