
LeBron James Passes Magic Johnson on Playoff Steals Leaderboard
NBA legend LeBron James accumulated 25 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists, four steals and four blocks during the Cleveland Cavaliers' 117-111 Game 2 victory over the Indiana Pacers on Monday. In doing so, he collected his 361st playoff steal to pass Magic Johnson (358) for third place on the all-time playoff steals list, per NBA TV.
LeBron now trails only Michael Jordan (376) and Scottie Pippen (395) for most playoff swipes in NBA history, per Basketball Reference. The King also ranks top five in playoff points (5,629), assists (1,368), free throws (1,364), three-pointers (289), defensive rebounds (1,457) and field goals (1,988).
Though LeBron is averaging the fewest steals per game (1.2) of his career in 2016-17, he's tallied at least three steals in eight games this season and has been known to elevate his performances in the postseason. His career playoff averages coming into Monday stood at 28.0 points, 8.8 rebounds, 6.8 assists, 1.8 steals and 0.9 blocks per game.
Through his first two playoff games this season, LeBron is posting averages of 28.5 points, 10.0 assists, 8.0 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 2.0 blocks per game.
Sunday's victory gives the Cavaliers a 2-0 series lead against the Pacers, with both teams heading to Indianapolis for the next two contests. Game 3 tips off at 7 p.m. ET on Thursday.
