4-Star WR Prospect Manuel Allen Commits to Nebraska Cornhuskers
Wide receiver Manuel Allen announced Saturday that he has committed to play college football for the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
He made it official with the following video on Twitter:
According to Scout, Manuel is a 4-star prospect who ranks as the No. 246 overall recruit, No. 46 wideout and No. 9 player at his position from California.
Allen decommitted from USC in February and reopened the recruiting process.
When asked about Nebraska in March, Allen spoke favorably about Cornhuskers wide receivers coach Keith Williams, per Bud Elliott and Jason Kirk of SBNation: "Coach Keith, he's just a great coach, and I feel like I'd be very happy to be coached up by him."
In landing Allen, the Huskers likely benefited greatly from head coach Mike Riley's time as Oregon State's head coach, since he is so familiar with the west-coast recruiting scene.
The addition of Allen is a potentially huge one for a Nebraska offense that ranked a pedestrian 78th in passing yardage last season.
At 6'2" and 175 pounds, Allen is a physical specimen who can make life easier for his quarterback by outleaping the opposition.
Nebraska has long been known for pounding the rock on the ground, but Allen is the type of player who can help bring more balance if he is as good as advertised.
