4-Star Safety Jeremiah McDonald Commits to Northwestern Wildcats
Northwestern has added a defensive playmaker with the commitment of Jeremiah McDonald.
The safety announced his decision on his personal Twitter account:
Per Scout.com, the 4-star recruit is the No. 36 safety in the country and the second-best at the position from the state of Louisiana.
McDonald has great size for the position at 6'3", 187 pounds, which could help him excel in the box and against the run. Of course, he is also solid against the pass, showing his playmaking ability with six interceptions during his junior season.
With a 40-yard dash time of 4.62 seconds, per ESPN, he has plenty of speed to cover a lot of ground in the secondary.
Despite holding double-digit offers around the country, including from Ole Miss, Vanderbilt and Virginia, McDonald chose Northwestern. He is now the second 4-star prospect in the 2018 class for the Wildcats, joining defensive end Devin O'Rourke.
After back-to-back winning seasons and just the third bowl victory in school history, head coach Pat Fitzgerald has Northwestern ready to contend in the Big Ten West.
