IPL Results 2017: Royal Challengers vs. Daredevils Score, Latest Table, Schedule
Royal Challengers Bangalore grabbed their first win of the 2017 Indian Premier League season on Saturday, defending a total of just 157 for eight against Delhi Daredevils at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
As shared by sportswriter Freddie Wilde, the hosts' stand was quite remarkable:
Rishabh Pant put together a great outing for Delhi, scoring 57 runs from 36 balls to keep his team's hopes alive. Seven of the team's batsmen scored in single digits, however, opening the door for Bangalore to grab an improbable win.

Royal Challengers Bangalore vs. Delhi Daredevils
Bangalore, 157 for eight (Jadhav 69, Watson 24) defeat Delhi, 142 for nine (Pat 57, Billings 25), by 15 runs.
Saturday's outing in Bangalore was dominated by the bowlers, and Kedar Jadhav did just enough to pull his team over the line, scoring 69 from 37 before he was caught.

Chris Gayle was caught early after contributing just six from eight, and Shane Watson added 24 at one run per ball, as the start of Bangalore's innings didn't go to plan. The team didn't impress all that much the rest of the way with the bat, either, with Jadhav the only one to find some success.
After the match, Zaheer Khan told ESPN Cricinfo his team would chase down such a small total in most cases:
"Eight out of ten times we would have got this total. We could not get the partnerships going. The wicket was very good for batting. It is just the beginning of the tournament. We just did not have partnerships. We were going at a good rate, Pant played well, and just needed support at the other end.
"
As shared by cricket writer Ayaz Memon, Pant's knock was a heroic one given the circumstances:
But while the youngster held up his end of the bargain, his team-mates struggled. Sam Billings scored 25 from 19, but the chase stuttered in the second part of the innings, and the tail of the order couldn't get anything done.
Only Iqbal Abdulla finished with an economy rate in double digits for Bangalore, and Yuzvendra Chahal led the way with four clean overs in which he gave up just 19 runs and a single boundary.
Per Wilde, the difference in strike rate between Pant and his team-mates was staggering:
The loss is a significant setback for Delhi, who couldn't take advantage of Bangalore's scoring issues. Royal Challengers usually impress with the bat more than with the ball, so if Delhi can't even beat them in these circumstances, their chances of making the play-offs don't seem good.
