Ibrahimovic's disallowed goal was a point of contention after the match, as he was ruled offside by the smallest of margins. Plenty of United fans thought the goal should have stood, and as shared by Squawka News, so did manager Jose Mourinho:
Lukaku had his chances but failed to capitalise, and he perhaps should have put the match to bed in the second half when he aimed a shot at goal, rather than playing in a team-mate after a counter.
Phil Jagielka had opened the scoring in the first half with an odd overhead kick that somehow passed between David De Gea's legs, and the Toffees appeared to be cruising to a win. Ashley Williams handled the ball in extra time, however, giving Ibrahimovic a chance to tie things up from the penalty spot.
The former Paris Saint-Germain star did just that, taking his tally for the season to 16 goals; Lukaku remains the top scorer with 21 goals. Per Bleacher Report UK, it also preserved United's unbeaten streak at home:
The Red Devils were far from their best, and the result leaves them four points behind Manchester City in the race for a top-four finish. With plenty of tricky fixtures on the horizon and the added strain of the UEFA Europa League (the side play their first leg of their quarter-final on April 13), Mourinho and his troops may need to prioritise Europe.
Leicester City won their fifth match in a row in the league, courtesy of goals from Islam Slimani and Jamie Vardy. Bleacher Report UK produced another fine tweet to commemorate the occasion:
Since Craig Shakespeare replaced former manager Claudio Ranieri, the Foxes have been in spectacular form, and Vardy seems to have rediscovered his shooting boots. With Atletico Madrid awaiting the team in the UEFA Champions League on April 18, it couldn't come at a better time.
Mbaye Niang and Troy Deeney took care of the scoring in Watford's win over West Brom, a result that all but ended the visitors' hopes of overtaking Everton in the race for a Europa berth. George Boyd also found the back of the net on Tuesday, scoring the only goal in Burnley's win over Stoke.
