WWE WrestleMania 2017: Ranking Biggest Surprises at Grandest Stage of Them All
Although the Ultimate Thrill Ride wasn't the most successful edition of WWE WrestleMania the company has ever produced, there were still some pleasant surprises Sunday night in Orlando, Florida.
Some, however, weren't necessarily good surprises.
There were some moments which severely impacted the quality of the evening, even if WWE fans weren't expecting them.
Here's a look at the biggest shocks on the night at WrestleMania 33.
Mojo Rawley Winning the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal
1 of 4Who saw this one coming?
Braun Strowman was the undoubted favorite to win the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, and with good reason.
If he didn't win it, then it would be Sami Zayn who survived the field, surely? But WWE pulled an audible and went for a huge twist and opted for Mojo Rawley as the winner.
And in many ways, it's not a bad decision. Strowman winning would have done little for his momentum given how he's already being pushed, so for a guy like Rawley, who is finding his feet after forging his own path as a solo star, to get the win is great.
But that didn't stop it from being a huge surprise.
The Hardy Boyz Winning Raw's Tag Team Titles
2 of 4Given how it had been so heavily rumored in the build to WrestleMania, The Hardy Boyz returning didn't come as that much of a surprise, even if the reaction to it was sensational.
But them winning the Raw tag titles at the expense of the likes of Enzo and Cass definitely ranks as a surprise.
Some will argue it's WWE acknowledging the past rather than the future, with Amore and Cass potentially a better fit to head up Raw's tag division moving forward.
But given how over they've been all across the world in the last 12 months, having The Hardy Boyz be the top dogs is a hugely exciting thing for all involved with Raw.
Bray Wyatt Losing Clean
3 of 4It was always possible that Bray Wyatt would drop the WWE Championship at WrestleMania. But clean? That was perhaps the biggest surprise of all.
With Luke Harper and Erick Rowan waiting in the wings, WWE could have easily created a scenario where one or both of those guys got involved, resulting in Bray inadvertently dropping the title to Orton.
But instead, Orton went over clean, leaving Wyatt to reflect on another crushing WrestleMania defeat.
Just as he was picking up some momentum after winning the WWE Championship, he's had it quickly taken away from him again.
Sure, Backlash may afford Bray the opportunity to hit back straight away, but unfortunately, it won't ever take away a surprise that has to be regarded as disappointing.
Sasha's Shock Elimination
4 of 4It seemed certain that Raw's women's title match would culminate in the collision of best friends Bayley and Sasha Banks.
That way, Banks had the platform from which to turn heel on Bayley, whether she won the match or not.
But instead, she was eliminated much earlier than everyone expected.
It may not impact on her standing in the women's division too much, as a program between herself and the champion is still surely on the cards.
But it was a big twist in the context of the match, and after a promising start to the bout, Banks' elimination proved to be the catalyst for things to tail off quite quickly.
