Sevilla's goalless draw leaves them 10 points behind Los Blancos and in a real battle for third place with Atletico Madrid.

Sunday Recap

With Lionel Messi suspended, it fell to Luis Suarez to shoulder the burden of Barcelona's goalscoring responsibilities, and he did so with aplomb.

After hitting the crossbar with an excellent chip and forcing a strong save from Guillermo Ochoa, Suarez eventually opened the scoring in stunning fashion, per Sky Sports La Liga:

Granada equalised through Jeremie Boga five minutes after the restart with a composed finish, but Suarez then turned creator for Paco Alcacer to put the Blaugrana back in front.

Squawka Football hailed his form this season:

Granada's hopes of another equaliser were ended when Uche Agbo was sent off for a second bookable offence, and Barcelona made sure of the win when Ivan Rakitic's effort deflected in off Matthieu Saunier.

Neymar rounded out the match with his 100th Barca goal in all competitions as he converted Alcacer's cross.

Real weren't overly impressive against Alaves but nevertheless came away with three points and a clean sheet.

Karim Benzema opened the scoring in the first half from Dani Carvajal's cross, though Alaves could have been level if not for wayward finishing from Deyverson and Edgar.

Isco and Nacho made sure of the win with two goals in three second-half minutes, the former finishing well after being put through by Cristiano Ronaldo and the latter heading home a rebound from Gareth Bale's free-kick.

La Liga writer Andrew Gaffney reflected on the match:

As for Sevilla, they failed to find the net against Sporting despite dominating much of the contest, with goalkeeper Ivan Cuellar impressing as he kept out efforts from Samir Nasri, Joaquin Correa, Wissam Ben Yedder, Vitolo and Stevan Jovetic.

BeIN Sports USA's David Cartlidge hailed Cuellar's performance:

Deportivo had a golden chance to take the lead in the eighth minute from the penalty spot after Martin Montoya fouled Florin Andone, but Diego Alves proved equal to Faycal Fajr's effort.

Valencia made them pay two minutes later when Ezequiel Garay tucked home a rebound from the crossbar and doubled their tally when Raul Albentosa headed a corner into his own net.

Joao Cancelo sealed the win in injury time with a fine effort as he cut in from the right and fired into the far corner.

Los Che are now 11 points clear of Sporting and realistically should be safe from relegation, even more so if they can beat Celta Vigo on Thursday.
