Masters 2017: Early Betting Odds from Vegas for Entire Field
Dustin Johnson will start the 2017 Masters tournament as the clear favourite, according to the bookmakers, as the 32-year-old has been given the top odds of the field.
As reported by OddsShark.com, the U.S. Open champion was a 5-1 favourite at the time of writing, ahead of the likes of Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth, Jason Day and Jon Rahm.
Per Independent Sport, Padraig Harrington believes only one man can keep Johnson from the title:
The Augusta National Golf Club usually throws up a handful of surprises, however. Just last year, Danny Willett shocked everyone by taking the win, while Spieth suffered one of the biggest meltdowns in recent history on the 12th hole.
Here's a look at the odds for some of the top players in the field. For full odds, visit OddsShark.com:
| Dustin Johnson | 5-1 |
| Jordan Spieth | 7-1 |
| Rory McIlroy | 15-2 |
| Jon Rahm | 18-1 |
| Hideki Matsuyama | 20-1 |
| Jason Day | 20-1 |
Johnson enters the 2017 Masters in excellent form, winning three tournaments already in 2017. He took the win at the Genesis Open and World Golf Championship in Mexico before beating Rahm in the final of the Dell Technologies Matchplay event in March.

The World No. 1 has been one of the standout players on the tour over the last two years, and last year, he finished the Masters in a tie for fourth place. His ability to drive the ball is a huge weapon at a course like Augusta, and he's greatly improved his short game in the last few years, which has made all the difference.
He'll be up against a diverse and deep group of rivals, led by top talents like McIlroy. Per James Corrigan of the Daily Telegraph, the Northern Irishman hasn't made a secret of his desire to win the tournament:
"No, I am probably not much fun to be around as Augusta approaches, but I’ve never made any bones about Augusta being the biggest tournament of the year for me. There’s joining the five guys with the career grand slam and all of that, but there’s just being the Masters champion and the green jacket and getting to go in the Champions Locker Room, to the Champions’ Dinner and knowing you’ll always be a part of the place. That’s a big deal when you think back to watching it in wonder as a kid, as I did.
"
McIlroy's form entering the Masters is a question mark, but there are plenty of other players who have played excellent golf of late. Hideki Matsuyama and Justin Thomas both have multiple wins this year already, and Rahm is arguably the fastest-rising star in the sport today.
Then there's Spieth, who always seems to be in the mix for the Masters, and defending champion Willett, who once again enters the tournament with little pressure on his shoulders. His posts on Twiter suggest he's going to enjoy the experience of playing at Augusta again:
There's no denying Johnson is on a historic run, however, as shared by Justin Ray of the Golf Channel:
DJ's consistency has been nothing short of amazing in 2017, and as long as his putter is as good as his driver, he'll rightly be the favourite for the title. Keep a close eye on Spieth, who would love to redeem himself at the course, and Rahm, who seems to improve every single day.
