Mets' Luis Guillorme Catches Flying Bat with 1 Hand from Dugout
New York Mets prospect Luis Guillorme hopes to one day leverage his defensive tools into an MLB role. This clip should serve as Exhibit A as to why that should happen.
During Thursday's spring training game against the Miami Marlins, Adeiny Hechavarria lost his grip of the baseball bat, which went flying toward New York's dugout. While most of the team, particularly infielder T.J. Rivera (No. 9), ducked for cover, Guillorme nonchalantly grabbed the bat by its barrel.
MLB.com's scouting report fittingly credits the 22-year-old shortstop for having "the best hands and actions in the system."

Yankees Call Up 6'7" Prospect 📈
Given his career .681 OPS and one home run over 1,484 minor league plate appearances—all at or below high Single-A—he likely doesn't have the bat to make the majors as a regular.
Yet Guillorme displayed a remarkable reaction time that could one day land him a role as a glove-first utilityman.
Spring training stats don't count, but nobody will forget that web gem.
