Illinois' Malcolm Hill Tears Up During Senior Night Postgame Interview
Illinois kept its NCAA tournament chances alive by defeating Michigan State, 73-70, in its final home game of the regular season. In his swan song at State Farm Center, senior Malcolm Hill registered 22 points.
Following the Fighting Illini's fourth-straight victory, Hill thanked his family and all other supporters during an emotional postgame interview:
"Man, it means a lot. You know, these last four years, they’ve done a lot for me. My family's been here for me ever since day one, the fan support has been unbelievable. I'm just so proud and I really appreciate the love I've been shown from Illini Nation. I wouldn't have done it without my family and friends and coaches.

When asked about his seniors, head coach John Groce held back tears and simply stated they mean "a lot" to him:
Seemingly out of the tournament picture at 18-12, the Fighting Illini have lived up to their name by battling down the stretch. Hill has led the way all year with 17.2 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists per contest.
Illinois closes the season at Rutgers on Saturday, but it may also need a strong Big Ten tournament showing to receive a March Madness invitation.
