Louisville Student Misses Out on $38,000 Cash Prize Due to Technicality
Twenty-year-old Jackson Logsdon successfully completed an on-court challenge at a recent Louisville Cardinals women's basketball game and appeared set to take home a nice chunk of change.
Unfortunately, a technicality will keep him from receiving his cash prize, according to Danielle Lerner of the Courier-Journal.
At Thursday night's game at the KFC Yum! Center, Logsdon made a layup, free throw, three-pointer and half-court shot during a promotional contest. As a result, he thought he'd be getting $38,000 in prize money.

However, the contest rules state that anyone who has played high school basketball within the last six years is ineligible. Logsdon, now a sophomore in college, played three years of basketball in high school, meaning he was ineligible.
"It is a huge bummer as I am an out-of-state student," Logsdon said in an email to the Courier-Journal. "It would have went a long way to paying off student loans and anything in that manner. It was still an awesome experience and something I'll never forget. Very bittersweet though."
Memories can be priceless, but at the same time, $38,000 is $38,000. Student loans can be a heavy burden on college students, so getting robbed of a cash prize like that has to be tough for Logsdon to swallow.
It'd be a cool move to see Logsdon wind up getting the money, given he completed the task—but it does not appear that will be the case. Perhaps in the future, teams will make sure contestants are eligible beforehand so they don't run into this scenario again.
