Army All American Bowl 2017: Predicting Where Every Uncommitted Player Will Sign
Seven talented, yet uncommitted prospects will announce where they will be attending college during the 2017 Army All-American Bowl on Saturday.
While a majority of the roster has already declared where they will attend college, 23 players enter the event still undecided.
Colleges from coast to coast are recruiting this group of players in hopes of adding more talent to their respective commit lists.
For some of them who elect to skip their final semester of high school and enroll at the school of their choice later this month, college life will begin sooner than later.
Where will these uncommitted prospects eventually land?
Flip the pages for predictions on every uncommitted Army All-American in the 2017 cycle.
*Players listed in alphabetical order.
4-Star RB Eno Benjamin
1 of 23High School/Hometown: Wylie East High School/Wylie, Texas
Size: 5'10", 203 lbs
Scout Rank: No. 10 running back, No. 106 overall
After an early commitment to Iowa, 4-star running back Eno Benjamin reopened his recruitment in October.
Scheduled to be an early enrollee, Benjamin will make his commitment during Saturday’s game and be on campus for spring football at whichever school he chooses.
As a senior, Benjamin rushed for 2,604 yards and 32 touchdowns.
Among the schools in the running for Benjamin include Arizona State, Michigan, Missouri, Texas and Utah.
Prediction: Arizona State
Texas was a school that trended with Benjamin once it offered him late in the process. However, the Longhorns have since landed pledges from two different rushers. Arizona State, whom he visited officially in October, seems to be in a good spot as the 247Sports crystal ball favorite.
4-Star S Bubba Bolden
2 of 23High School/Hometown: Bishop Gorman High School/Las Vegas
Size: 6'2.5", 200 lbs
Scout Rank: No. 2 safety, No. 38 overall
Early in his recruitment, 4-star safety Bubba Bolden was committed to Pac-12 powerhouse USC before backing off the pledge to explore his options.
The Trojans, along with Arizona State and Ohio State, remain in the picture with the talented safety prospect.
As a senior, Bolden racked up 25 tackles with seven interceptions.
Prediction: USC
According to Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports, USC is the school that has the most momentum with Bolden entering his announcement. Conversely, Ohio State—the other school that is believed to be in the mix—has four defensive backs already committed with another one or two they are heavily involved with. That seems to point the arrow toward Bolden re-upping his commitment to the Trojans.
4-Star WR Jamire Calvin
3 of 23High School/Hometown: Cathedral High School/Los Angeles
Size: 5'10", 150 lbs
Scout Rank: No. 33 receiver, No. 231 overall
After compiling more than 25 offers, the recruitment of 4-star receiver Jamire Calvin is down to four finalists.
Alabama, Nebraska, Notre Dame and Washington State will be paying close attention to Saturday’s game when Calvin is set to announce.
According to MaxPreps, Calvin hauled in 83 receptions for 1,312 yards and 14 touchdowns as a senior.
Prediction: Nebraska
Nebraska was the first school among his group of finalists to host him back in September on the opening weekend of the season. Receiver is a position of need this cycle for the Cornhuskers, and Calvin seems to be a fit in what head coach Mike Riley and his staff are searching for at the position.
2-Star P Tucker Day
4 of 23High School/Hometown: Brentwood High School/Brentwood, Tennessee
Size: 6'2", 180 lbs
Scout Rank: N/A
Army, Colorado State, Illinois, Navy and Rutgers are the five school who have offered punter Tucker Day thus far.
According to Paul Jones of 247Sports, San Diego State has also offered recently, and Mississippi State is showing interest.
Prediction: Mississippi State
Assuming the Bulldogs offer, they should be in good shape to land Day. If not, Illinois, Rutgers and San Diego State will battle it out for his commitment.
4-Star OL Chuck Filiaga
5 of 23High School/Hometown: Aledo High School/Aledo, Texas
Size: 6'6", 335 lbs
Scout Rank: No. 15 offensive tackle, No. 125 overall
Three traditional powers in Michigan, Nebraska and Oklahoma are left in the running to land 4-star offensive lineman Chuck Filiaga.
All three programs hosted Filiaga on official visits, and each school has had momentum at different points in his recruitment.
Filiaga is one of the seven standouts announcing his decision during Saturday’s game.
Prediction: Michigan
According to Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports, Michigan is the school trending with Filiaga heading into his announcement, with Oklahoma being the stiffest competition. The Wolverines already have a stout offensive line class, and adding Filiaga would round out a group that has the potential to be the best in the country.
4-Star LB Willie Gay
6 of 23High School/Hometown: Starkville High School/Starkville, Mississippi
Size: 6'1.5", 215 lbs
Scout Rank: No. 6 outside linebacker, No. 89 overall
After committing to Ole Miss back in June, 4-star linebacker Willie Gay reopened his recruitment four months later.
The Rebels are still involved with the in-state standout, as are LSU, Michigan and Mississippi State.
With Gay being from Starkville, the Bulldogs are hoping to keep him from escaping the city limits when he makes a final decision.
Prediction: Mississippi State
The Bulldogs are trending on Gay’s crystal ball page. He also took an official visit to Michigan. However, this recruitment likely comes down to a duel between Magnolia State rivals Ole Miss and Mississippi State, with the Bulldogs holding the upper hand heading into the final weeks of his recruitment.
5-Star CB Darnay Holmes
7 of 23High School/Hometown: Calabasas High School/Calabasas, California
Size: 5'10", 185 lbs
Scout Rank: No. 1 corner, No. 9 overall
With more than 25 offers to his credit, 5-star corner Darnay Holmes has a handful of schools left who are fighting to earn his commitment.
Nebraska and Ohio State are the top out-of-state options trying to lure him away from his home state of California, while in-state powers UCLA and USC will try to keep him closer to home.
Holmes has a bit of intrigue heading into his announcement on Saturday, and he will be an early enrollee at whichever school he chooses.
Prediction: UCLA
As Wiltfong reported, all four schools have reason to feel good about their standing with Holmes heading into his announcement. However, the Buckeyes and the Bruins seem to have the most traction with him as things currently stand. It will likely come down to whether or not he wants to leave his home state. I’ll go with the Bruins in a slight upset.
5-Star S Devon Hunter
8 of 23High School/Hometown: Indian River High School/Chesapeake, Virginia
Size: 6'1", 206 lbs
Scout Rank: No. 1 safety, No. 5 overall
Virginia Tech is hoping to keep the top player from the state of Virginia home in 5-star safety Devon Hunter.
He’s already taken official visits to see the Hokies and fellow ACC stalwart North Carolina. He will take officials to SEC powers Alabama, Auburn and Florida later this month.
Hunter is likely to make a decision on or close to signing day.
Prediction: Virginia Tech
The Hokies have momentum under first-year head coach Justin Fuente, and his staff is focused on landing Hunter as the crown jewel of their 2017 class. If the SEC schools push, it could get interesting late. However, the Hokies appear to have laid the groundwork with Hunter, and it should pay off with him in the end.
3-Star Odua Isibor
9 of 23High School/Hometown: St. Mary’s High School/Phoenix
Size: 6'5", 235 lbs
Scout Rank: No. 55 defensive end, N/A overall
One of the more intriguing pass-rushers in the 2017 cycle is 3-star Arizona native Odua Isibor.
The rangy defensive end has programs such as Arizona State, Oregon, Texas A&M, UCLA and Yale pursuing him.
He will take an official visit to see the Aggies later this month.
Prediction: UCLA
As Wiltfong reported, the Bruins are trending with Isibor, and Yale is the school giving them the biggest competition. The Sun Devils could also factor in if they push hard for Isibor. However, the Bruins appear to be in a good spot to land him.
5-Star OL Austin Jackson
10 of 23High School/Hometown: North Canyon High School/Phoenix
Size: 6'5", 255 lbs
Scout Rank: No. 6 offensive tackle, No. 30 overall
Arizona State, Oregon, USC and Washington have already hosted 5-star offensive lineman Austin Jackson on official visits.
Michigan is trying to enter the picture with Jackson, as reported by Wiltfong.
However, Jackson is likely to land at one his many Pac-12 options.
Prediction: USC
The Trojans are the heavy favorite for Jackson, according to his 247Sports crystal ball page. With the momentum head coach Clay Helton and his staff have carried over from the regular season, expect them to close the deal with Jackson as well.
4-Star S K.J. Jarrell
11 of 23High School/Hometown: Saguaro High School/Scottsdale, Arizona
Size: 6'2", 185 lbs
Scout Rank: No. 31 safety, N/A overall
Arizona State and Arizona are both working hard to try and keep 4-star safety K.J. Jarrell from leaving the state for college.
California, Colorado and USC lead the group of programs trying to lure him away from his home state.
As a junior, Jarrell recorded 56 tackles with an interception while adding another two scores as a receiver.
Prediction: Arizona State
According to Ryan Bartow of 247Sports, Jarrell plans to take visits to Arizona State, California and USC later this month before deciding on signing day. The Sun Devils appear to have the best shot of landing Jarrell as things currently stand.
4-Star ATH Greg Johnson
12 of 23High School/Hometown: Hawkins High School/Los Angeles
Size: 5'10", 180 lbs
Scout Rank: No. 8 athlete, No. 98 overall
Arizona was the school that initially landed 4-star athlete Greg Johnson before he backed off that pledge last month.
Johnson took official visits to see both Nebraska and Notre Dame during the fall. As Ryan Bartow of 247Sports detailed, he has official visits lined up to see Arizona State and USC in January and may take a trip to California as well.
In-state and hometown power USC is the other school in the mix with Johnson.
Prediction: USC
As Bartow noted, Johnson has a brother in the 2018 class already committed to the Trojans. Proximity and familiarity are two key factors likely to keep him from leaving the City of Angels for college.
4-Star CB Deommodore Lenoir
13 of 23High School/Hometown: Bishop Mora Salesian High School/Los Angeles, California
Size: 6'0", 170 lbs
Scout Rank: No. 8 corner, No. 87 overall
Oregon once held a commitment from 4-star corner Deommodore Lenoir, but he opened his recruitment up due to the departure of previous head coach Mark Helfrich.
However, as Justin Hopkins of 247Sports detailed, new Ducks head coach Willie Taggart is still pursuing Lenoir in hopes of getting him back in the fold.
Nebraska, North Carolina, UCLA and USC are among the other schools actively pursuing the California standout.
Prediction: Oregon
Lenoir’s recruitment has the feeling of one that could go in a number of directions. The visits he will take in January could alter the course of where he lands. However, I’ll go with the Ducks in a bit of a surprise. Taggart is putting together a strong staff that I expect to put the full court press on Lenoir.
5-Star WR Joseph Lewis
14 of 23High School/Hometown: Hawkins High School/Los Angeles
Size: 6'2.5", 200 lbs.
Scout Rank: No. 1 receiver, No. 15 overall
Arizona State, Nebraska and USC are the three programs with momentum in the recruitment of 5-star receiver Joseph Lewis.
Lewis has already taken official visits to see Nebraska and Oregon. According to Bartow, Lewis will visit the Sun Devils and the Trojans later this month.
The nation’s top receiver is currently slated to announce on national signing day.
Prediction: USC
With the Trojans locking in his last visit and the fact that his prep teammate (Greg Johnson) could also land there, USC appears to be the team with the best shot to land Lewis.
4-Star WR Oliver Martin
15 of 23High School/Hometown: West Senior High School/Iowa City, Iowa
Size: 6'1", 185 lbs
Scout Rank: No. 30 receiver, No. 216 overall
The top overall prospect from the state of Iowa this year is 4-star receiver Oliver Martin.
With him hailing from Iowa City, the Hawkeyes are all over Martin in an effort to keep him home for college.
Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame and Oregon are among the programs hoping to lure him away. He has already taken official visits to Iowa and Notre Dame with an upcoming trip to Michigan State on deck for later this month.
As a senior, Martin hauled in 82 catches for 1,272 yards and 14 touchdowns.
Prediction: Iowa
Martin is another player who is tough to peg in terms of his future destination. Michigan, Michigan State and Notre Dame have all had periods where they seemed to be in a great position with him. In the end, I’ll take a flyer on Iowa doing whatever it takes to keep him from leaving the state.
5-Star CB Jeffrey Okudah
16 of 23High School/Hometown: South Grand Prairie High School/Grand Prairie, Texas
Size: 6'1", 190 lbs
Scout Rank: No. 1 athlete, No. 12 overall
Florida State, Ohio State and Oklahoma are the final three schools battling to land a commitment from 5-star athlete Jeffrey Okudah.
The Lone Star State standout, who is likely to play corner at the next level, visited all three programs in the fall.
As a senior, Okudah notched 43 tackles with five pass breakups and a fumble recovery. He will also be an early enrollee at the school of his choice.
Prediction: Ohio State
The Buckeyes have been the heavy favorite to land Okudah throughout his recruitment, as evidenced by his 247Sports crystal ball page. The Buckeyes got his last official visit, and barring a major upset, all signs point to him landing in Columbus.
4-Star DE Jarez Parks
17 of 23High School/Hometown: Sebastian River High School/Sebastian, Florida
Size: 6'5", 255 lbs
Scout Rank: No. 4 defensive end, No. 48 overall
Sunshine State powers Florida and Florida State are both working feverishly to keep 4-star defensive end Jarez Parks from leaving the state for college.
However, Alabama, Auburn and North Carolina are among the out-of-state schools fighting to land his pledge.
He’s already taken official visits to both Alabama and Florida State. Later this month, he will see his other three remaining finalists.
Prediction: Alabama
According to Wiltfong, Alabama is the early leader for Parks. Both the Seminoles and Gators will try to reverse that trend in the coming weeks, but the Crimson Tide are likely too tough to overcome in this recruitment.
4-Star WR Henry Ruggs III
18 of 23High School/Hometown: Lee High School/Montgomery, Alabama
Size: 6'0", 173 lbs
Scout Rank: No. 23 receiver, No. 173 overall
Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Florida State and Penn State are the final five programs in the mix with 4-star receiver Henry Ruggs III.
As a junior, the electric Ruggs hauled in 44 receptions for 1,007 yards and 10 touchdowns.
According to BamaOnline’s Hank South, Alabama and Florida State are the two schools that have been recruiting him the hardest.
Prediction: Alabama
The Seminoles have done a good job with Ruggs in giving him something to think about. However, it’s extremely tough to go into Alabama and steal a player of Ruggs’ caliber when the Crimson Tide are pushing for him.
5-Star OL Foster Sarell
19 of 23High School/Hometown: Graham Kapowsin High School/Graham, Washington
Size: 6'6", 300 lbs
Scout Rank: No. 1 offfensive tackle, No. 2 overall
5-Star offensive lineman Foster Sarell, the nation’s top uncommitted prospect, will headline the group of players committing during Saturday’s game.
Nebraska, Notre Dame, Stanford, USC and Washington are the five finalists remaining in his recruitment.
According to Wiltfong, Pac-12 powers Stanford and Washington appear to be the main two teams it will come down to.
Prediction: Washington
This appears to be a toss-up heading into the announcement. I’ll go with the home team even though Stanford seems to have the most buzz as things currently stand. It’s hard to imagine the Huskies losing out on the top in-state prospect after winning the Pac-12 and appearing in the College Football Playoff.
5-Star OL Tedarrell Slaton
20 of 23High School/Hometown: American Heritage High School/Plantation, Florida
Size: 6'4.5", 341 lbs
Scout Rank: No. 2 offensive guard, No. 34 overall
Among the programs vying to land 5-star offensive lineman Tedarrell Slaton are Baylor, Florida, Kentucky, Miami and Michigan.
Bartow reported that Slaton has Florida and Kentucky currently tied at the top of his leaderboard.
He has plans to visit both the Gators and Wildcats later this month.
Prediction: Florida
While his out-of-state suitors are giving him something to think about, it’s highly likely that Slaton opts to stay closer to home for college. Of his in-state options, Florida appears to have the strongest relationship with him—which should help them land him in the end.
5-Star WR Devonta Smith
21 of 23High School/Hometown: Amite High School/Amite, Louisiana
Size: 6'1", 167 lbs
Scout Rank: No. 2 receiver, No. 24 overall
Alabama, LSU and Miami are the three teams trending with 5-star receiver Devonta Smith in the final stretch of his recruitment.
The nation’s No. 2 receiver will visit all three programs officially later this month.
Miami will get his final visit, but his recruitment likely comes down to another tug-of-war between SEC West rivals Alabama and LSU.
Prediction: Alabama
The Crimson Tide have been the heavy favorites to land Smith for quite some time, as evidenced by his 247Sports crystal ball page. The in-state Tigers will try to give him something to think about, but Alabama’s lead may be too large to overcome this late in the game.
5-Star DT Aubrey Solomon
22 of 23High School/Hometown: Lee County High School/Leesburg, Georgia
Size: 6'3", 304 lbs
Scout Rank: No. 2 defensive tackle, No. 20 overall
Auburn, Florida, Georgia, Michigan and USC are among the schools chasing Alabama for 5-star defensive tackle Aubrey Solomon, as detailed by BamaOnline’s Hank South.
The one-time Wolverines pledge has visits set up to see Auburn, Florida and USC later this month.
The homestanding Bulldogs may be Alabama’s biggest competition for the elite interior defender.
Prediction: Georgia
The buzz is currently with Alabama for Solomon, and it’s almost a sin to go against the Crimson Tide for an elite recruit who appears to be smitten with their program. However, Georgia has something special brewing under head coach Kirby Smart—especially when it comes to keeping the top talent in the Peach State flowing to Athens. I feel like they'll find a way to get it done with Solomon in the end.
4-Star DT Jay Tufele
23 of 23High School/Hometown: Bingham High School/South Jordan, Utah
Size: 6'3", 297 lbs
Scout Rank: No. 3 defensive tackle, No. 37 overall
BYU and Utah are both hoping to keep elite 4-star defensive tackle Jay Tufele in-state for college.
Among his out-of-state suitors are powers such as Michigan, Ohio State and USC.
He has already taken trips to both of his Big Ten finalists. The Trojans and the Utes will get his final official visits later this month.
Prediction: Utah
With the Utes strong tradition of developing defensive linemen and the fact that they will get his last official visit, I expect them to survive the pushes from Ohio State, Michigan and USC to land him.
