Theo Riddick Reportedly Had Surgery on Wrists to Repair Season-Ending Injury

Joseph ZuckerMar 26, 2017

Detroit Lions running back Theo Riddick underwent surgery on both of his wrists last season, the Detroit Free Press' Dave Birkett reported Sunday.

Riddick appeared in 10 games last year, running for 357 yards and a touchdown. He also caught 53 passes for 371 yards and five touchdowns.

The Lions placed Riddick on injured reserve in late December. According to Birkett, the surgery preceded his IR designation.

Birkett added that Detroit expects the 25-year-old to participate in the team's organized activities this spring. Still, Riddick's surgery adds another question mark to the Lions backfield since Ameer Abdullah also suffered a season-ending foot injury last year.

After staying quiet on the running back front in the free-agent market, Detroit could shore up the position in the 2017 draft in April.
