College Football Playoff Rankings 2016: Twitter Reacts to Final Reveal
The College Football Playoff picture is set with the top four teams in the nation slotted to face off against one another.
Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State and Washington have booked their tickets to the Peach Bowl and Fiesta Bowl on New Year's Eve.
The Crimson Tide's No. 1 ranking was no shock to anyone; neither was the No. 2 spot for Clemson. Many pundits had wondered if Washington would remain ahead of Penn State and Michigan, and the Huskies held the No. 4 spot to take on Alabama in the Peach Bowl. The Tigers will meet the Buckeyes in the Fiesta Bowl.
It's hard to argue with the committee's decision to go with the Huskies at No. 4. That said, fifth-ranked Penn State had a legitimate claim to participate in the playoff with a 11-2 record, a win over Ohio State and the Big Ten Championship on its resume.
The committee's decision to leave out the Nittany Lions will cause debate as to how much the CFP values a conference championship.
Moral of the story? Try not to lose more than one game.

Bruce Feldman of Fox Sports sympathized with the Nittany Lions:
Michigan came in at No. 6 and really was the outsider looking in on the day—even more so than Penn State. The Wolverines had two late losses to Iowa and Ohio State and only a 10-2 record to offer the committee, so the likelihood of their entering the frame was slim to none.
It didn't take long for projections and the world of analytics to get in on the fun, as it's already been determined that the Crimson Tide have the best chance to win it all:
It didn't take Las Vegas oddsmakers long either:
The playoff is not a perfect system, but it provides teams with a more realistic shot at winning a national championship than the old BCS format did.
For those college football fans who are cursing the committee today and begging for a return to the old format, think again. The same four teams got in using the BCS format; the only difference is how the teams were ranked:
But enough with controversy. Two great bowl games will take place at the end of the month to determine who plays in the national championship game on Monday, Jan. 9.
Alabama has earned the distinction as the best team in America and will face the fundamentally sound Huskies of the Pac-12. Washington will need its offense to be on its A-game against the best defense in college football.
Chantel Jennings of ESPN.com shared a funny line from Washington coach Chris Petersen:
Surrendering just 247.8 total yards per game to their opponents, the Crimson Tide will look to slow down Washington's Jake Browning, who has thrown for 3,280 yards with 42 touchdowns to seven interceptions.
In the Fiesta Bowl, defense might be an afterthought.
The Buckeyes and Tigers should run up the scoreboard in what will likely be the more entertaining matchup. The Buckeyes will have to find a way to stop Heisman hopeful Deshaun Watson, who has thrown for 3,914 yards with 37 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. He's added 529 rushing yards and six scores.
Anticipation is mounting for another great playoff, with intrigue about who will come out on top.
