Heisman Trophy Prediction
Lamar Jackson, Louisville
Louisville quarterback and Heisman front-runner Lamar Jackson did not have a good game on Thursday night against Houston. In fact, it was a dreadful one as he saw his team's national championship hopes go up in smoke during a 36-10 loss.
Jackson completed just 20 of his 43 passes for 211 yards while gaining an additional 33 yards on 25 carries, including a lost fumble.
Sure, he was not at his best, but Louisville's offensive line did not stand a chance against the Houston pass rush, which sacked Jackson 11 times.
On top of that, a litany of holding penalties and false starts killed any kind of offensive momentum Jackson was able to create. But there is no disputing he is still one of the most explosive players in college football given his dual-threat capabilities.
He ranks 13th in passing yards with 3,109 and eighth in rushing yards with 1,367, and he has posted 47 total touchdowns.
Those 47 scores tied Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson's mark from last year for touchdowns responsible for, according to ESPN CollegeFootball.
It's created an impressive ratio compared to just six interceptions and three fumbles.
If he can put the Houston game behind him and play like he has all season against Kentucky in the regular-season finale, Jackson will likely capture the Heisman come December.
