Nebraska head coach Mike Riley said Armstrong will start the Cornhuskers' regular-season finale against the Hawkeyes, per Christopher Heady of Land of 10.
Armstrong Has Been Banged Up All Season
The ailments have started to mount for Armstrong of late. Heady passed along comments from the dual-threat star after the team's Week 11 victory over Minnesota—a game in which he played after suffering a concussion one week earlier and that featured him rolling his ankle—about his status.
"There's a difference between playing hurt and injured," Armstrong said. "Everyone is banged up out there."
Ryker Fyfe replaced Armstrong in the starting lineup. The senior backup has struggled in limited duty this season, completing just seven of 24 throws with one touchdown and one interception. His only career start came last year against Purdue. The Cornhuskers lost the game 55-45, as he tossed four TDs but also had four interceptions.
After taking over for Armstrong after the starter suffered the head injury against Ohio State, Fyfe discussed always staying prepared for his opportunities, per Rich Kaipust of the Omaha World-Herald.
"I know I always have to be ready, but just couldn't get much of a rhythm going when we were out there," Fyfe said. "We just struggled offensively and couldn't score. Something we'll have to learn from and get better from."
