Argentina enter this crucial clash with several key players missing. The most notable is Juventus' Paulo Dybala, who has been sidelined with an injury for some time.

The visitors should still have plenty of attacking firepower, however. Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero and Gonzalo Higuain all made the squad, handing manager Edgardo Bauza plenty of options to choose from.

Per Goal's Nacho Cruz and Ezequiel Scher, the Argentinian boss has been shocked by the criticism Aguero has received of late, particularly after the team's disappointing performances in the previous international break:

"

I try not to pay attention to the comments. In Argentina some of the critics about football are constructive, but the disrespect bothers me.

Aguero is now criticised in Manchester City and in Argentina, despite all the things he did. Aguero has proven that he has a great performance level and that he deserves to be in the national team.

He may have bad moments, but he can win a match.

"

The Manchester City man has been in exceptional form of late, netting three times in his last three appearances, and he'll be expected to play a big role for the Albiceleste.

Even more will be expected from team-mate Messi, who stole the show with Barcelona against Sevilla. The 29-year-old was all over the pitch, setting up chances, scoring goals and leading a comeback win.

Former England international Gary Lineker was impressed:

Brazil's attacking depth is nothing to scoff at, either. Messi's team-mate Neymar is the biggest star, but Bayern Munich's Douglas Costa and the Liverpool duo of Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho enter the international break in fine form as well.

Coutinho is an early candidate for the Player of the Year award in England, with the Reds currently leading the Premier League standings thanks to his playmaking ability.

Brazil have won four straight qualifiers since their poor Copa America Centenario showing, but Costa won't write off the Argentinians, despite their poor form. As reported by Goal, he believes the magnitude of this match trumps form:

"

Everyone knows this is a Superclasico, and form is not important ahead when it comes to the Superclasico.

Argentina deserve respect, it's going to be a great game regardless of where they stand right now.

I think that we have to impose our rhythm on the game, to play the football that we have been playing. That is the most important thing for us, without thinking how Argentina have been suffering or how they could will suffer here.

"

While that may be true, it's hard to deny Brazil simply have a more well-rounded squad right now. Most of Argentina's top talent plays in the attacking third, whereas Brazil have a star-studded defence featuring Thiago Silva, Dani Alves and Marcelo.

Matches between these two teams are almost always tight, but taking into account their current form and all-round talent, Brazil have the edge.

Prediction: Brazil 2-1 Argentina
