La Liga Table 2016: Sunday's Week 11 Results and Updated Standings
Barcelona came from behind to hand Sevilla their first home defeat of the 2016-17 La Liga campaign on Sunday, closing back to within two points of leaders Real Madrid thanks to goals from Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.
Earlier on Sunday, Real temporarily extended their lead at La Liga's summit after Gareth Bale's two goals aided Los Blancos in clinching a 3-0 win against top-flight new boys Leganes at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Elsewhere, Villarreal moved up to third in the table after defeating Real Betis 2-0 at El Madrigal, and Celta Vigo returned from a goal down to beat Valencia 2-1 on home turf.

Recap
Barcelona had their work cut out for them after Sergi Roberto's error in defence allowed Vitolo to slip through after 15 minutes and fire the opener past goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
The hosts had the better shares of the first-half chances, and although Messi stole in against the run of play to clinch an equaliser on the stroke of half-time, ESPN's Nick Dorrington critiqued their inability to build on their lead:
After converting smoothly to get Barca level, Messi turned creator on the hour mark, and it was his burst deep into the Sevilla half that gave Suarez the space he needed to push home the game-winner.
Sky Sports La Liga provided footage of the goal that pulled the Blaugrana back to within two points of Los Merengues, earning a valuable result after their UEFA Champions League defeat to Manchester City last Tuesday:
The only bad news for Barca is Suarez's 88th-minute yellow card—his fifth of the season—means he's suspended for the home clash against Malaga in a fortnight. However, ESPN FC's Dermot Corrigan highlighted the striker was very aware of the suspicious benefits of that suspension:
Real could hardly have hoped for an easier run to three points on Sunday as Leganes rolled over in Madrid, where Bale grabbed a brace for the hosts before Alvaro Morata scored in a rare start for the hosts.
It took Bale just 57 seconds to score against Legia Warsaw in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, and Sunday's outing was another memorable one for the Welshman, via Sky Sports La Liga:
The former Tottenham Hotspur talisman bagged twice before the break, and Morata added the icing on the cake with 14 minutes remaining in normal time to retain Real's place on La Liga's throne.
Cristiano Ronaldo wasn't among the goalscorers and now has failed to score in back-to-back outings, but manager Zinedine Zidane moved to allay any fears over the form of his star, per Real's official website:
"There's nothing wrong with him. We always want him score goals, he got three in Vitoria. You might see him do things on the pitch because he always wants to get a goal. I don't think he's worried, he looks good and committed. It's true he likes scoring goals, especially at this stadium, but he's calm.
"
First-half goals from Manu Trigueros and Roberto Soriano steered Villarreal to a comfortable 2-0 win over Betis, ensuring the Yellow Submarine returned to winning ways after suffering their first loss of the season at Eibar last Sunday.
Manager Fran Escriba's men didn't pose as visceral a threat in the second period as the hosts settled for a two-goal victory, although La Liga's Twitter account illustrated Villarreal had every reason to be content:
Celta Vigo's comeback win over Valencia was more of a surprise given Dani Parejo's 32nd-minute penalty looked as though it has set Los Che on their path to their first victory since mid-October.
It wasn't to be, though, as Facundo Roncaglia and John Guidetti netted either side of the break to turn the result in the home side's favour, with Andrew Gaffney of Yahoo Sport UK in agreement Valencia deserved their loss:
Guidetti headed home his second goal in as many matches after pulling back Celta's first in Thursday's UEFA Europa League defeat at Ajax, except this time his impact in front of goal hauled in the three points.
Espanyol's goal-shy run of form continued with a scoreless draw at home to Athletic, meanwhile, a result that meant Los Leones have now failed to win in three league games and last won away from home back in September.
