Outlook

Chelsea continued their fine run with perhaps their best performance of the 2016-17 season yet, embarrassing Everton at Stamford Bridge.

Hazard and Marcos Alonso gave the Blues a quick two-goal lead, and per Bleacher Report UK, there wasn't much time in between the two goals:

The onslaught continued, with Diego Costa making it 3-0 before half-time. The Blues didn't let up after the break, and a beautiful attack through Hazard and Pedro saw the former slot home Chelsea's fourth goal.

Former England international Gary Lineker was in awe:

Pedro himself made it 5-0, capping off a spectacular night for the Blues.

City came back down to earth after their impressive win over Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League, playing out a 1-1 draw with Middlesbrough.

Boro barely threatened before half-time, as the Citizens dominated possession and had nearly 20 shots at goal. Sergio Aguero gave his side the lead just before the break, courtesy of a superb assist from Kevin De Bruyne.

Per OptaJoe, the Argentinian has a remarkable scoring record:

Boro improved after half-time, however, and while chances remained few for the visitors, the lack of a second City goal meant manager Pep Guardiola's troops had to be on their toes until the final whistle.

They failed to do so, and Marten de Roon gave Boro an unexpected point with a late header, taking away City's top spot in the standings in the process.

Per City's official Twitter account, Guardiola knew a second goal would have ended the match:

Over in Bournemouth, Sunderland finally grabbed their first win of the season, beating the Cherries 2-1. Dan Gosling gave the hosts an early lead before Victor Anichebe equalised. And when Steven Pienaar was sent off for a second bookable offence, the Black Cats' bid for a first win was in serious jeopardy.

But Jermain Defoe converted a penalty with 16 minutes left to play, and the visitors hung on to the lead.

As shared by Match of the Day, the match-winner thought the win could have a big impact down the road:

Bojan Krkic scored with 15 minutes to play to earn Stoke City a 1-1 draw at West Ham United, and Ashley Barnes bagged the winner for Burnley against Crystal Palace.

Arsenal will have the chance to grab the top spot in the standings on Sunday if they can beat rivals Tottenham Hotspur in the north London derby. Spurs are the only undefeated team left in the Premier League.
