Kevin Garnett Joins Turner Sports as Special Contributor
While Kevin Garnett's illustrious NBA career is over, KG will stay close to the game this season as a special contributor for Turner Sports.
The network announced Friday that Garnett will make weekly appearances on TNT during the 2016-17 campaign as part of the channel's NBA coverage.
Garnett expressed excitement regarding his first big step after retirement: "I'm excited to join the Turner family. I've been a fan for a long time, so I'm thrilled that it's a reality now."
Ernie Johnson, Shaquille O'Neal, Charles Barkley and Kenny Smith of TNT's Inside the NBA welcomed KG to the team:
The 40-year-old superstar played 21 seasons in the NBA with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Boston Celtics and Brooklyn Nets.
He is a 15-time All-Star and won an elusive championship with the C's in 2007-08 alongside Paul Pierce and Ray Allen.
Garnett returned to Minnesota during the latter part of 2014-15 and for the 2015-16 season, but he decided to retire prior to the 2016-17 campaign.
The 1995 first-round pick of the T-Wolves is a surefire first-ballot Hall of Famer with career averages of 17.8 points, 10.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 1.4 blocks and 1.3 steals per game.
Garnett is 17th all-time in scoring, ninth in rebounding and fifth in career games played.
He joins a star-studded panel headlined by a pair of Hall of Famers in Shaq and Barkley. Like them, KG is opinionated and highly knowledgeable about the game of basketball, which makes his new foray a natural first step after retirement.
