Recap
Paolo Fernandes scored the only goal in Friday's top clash between City and Liverpool, handing his side the win and the Division 1 lead.
As reported by Andy Kelly of the Liverpool Echo, the match was played in tough conditions, with rain pouring down:
The Citizens dominated from the opening whistle and deservedly took the lead after 22 minutes, with Fernandes beating goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher.
The Reds had no answers for City's fluent attack throughout the first half, and per Kelly, they were lucky to be down by just a single goal at half-time:
Liverpool improved after the break, but the best chances kept falling to City, and the final result was never in doubt.
Arsenal cruised to a much-needed win over Sunderland, putting some distance between themselves and the relegation zone.
Leicester came from behind on two occasions to steal a dramatic, late win against mid-table Reading, a result that moved the Foxes out of the bottom two and up to ninth in the table, just a point below the Royals.
After a goalless first half, Uche scored to cancel out Tyler Frost's opener, and it was Pascanu who netted two minutes after Ryan Henry East put Reading ahead for the second time, with summer signing Bartosz Kapustka helping set up the strike:
The biggest drama was saved for last, however, as Barnes came in with an 87th-minute winner to settle the tie, although Leicester were pushed to the brink late on to preserve their three-point haul.
Earlier on Friday, Manchester United and Tottenham each climbed one place in the Division 1 standings after sharing the spoils with a 1-1 draw at Hotspur Way Training Centre.
The Red Devils looked as though they might be on their way to a fourth win of the season, after Riley got on the end of a superb ball from Sean Goss, via Full Time DEVILS:
However, Riley's 20th-minute opener didn't stand for long, after Spurs starlet Harrison drilled home an equaliser a little more than 10 minutes later, and that was as far as the scoring went in north London.
Tottenham's season is yet to really get out of first gear, but Friday's draw was enough to move them out of the bottom two and into 10th, while United climbed one place into fifth, one point above Sunderland.
