Manchester United Transfer News: Fabinho, Seamus Coleman Targeted, Fresh Rumours
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly hoping to sign a new right-back in January, with AS Monaco star Fabinho top of his wishlist followed by Everton's Seamus Coleman.
According to ESPN FC's Miguel Delaney, Mourinho has made reinforcing the position a priority and is hoping to add further pace to his side.
Antonio Valencia has filled in there admirably but is little more than a temporary solution, while Matteo Darmian looks to have no future at the club under the Special One.

The Italian made just his second appearance of the season on Thursday in the UEFA Europa League win over Fenerbahce, and the rusty full-back's lack of pace was noticeable, as Samuel Luckhurst of the Manchester Evening News noted:
"Mourinho's 'match fitness' excuse over Mkhitaryan weakened by Darmian's performance so far. Van Persie looks quicker than him. #mufc

Fabinho and Coleman certainly fit the profile of the kind of full-back United are said to be looking for and are strong both offensively and defensively.
The Brazilian impressed in the UEFA Champions League as Monaco drew 1-1 with CSKA Moscow on Tuesday, per Squawka Football:
Such all-action performances are becoming increasingly common from the 22-year-old, who is also known for his goalscoring exploits.
He has netted six times in all competitions this season and bagged eight last year—he's not only effective at marauding forward, but he's also a composed penalty-taker and assumes spot-kick duties for his side.
Here's a look at some of his highlights last season:
Meanwhile, Coleman has established himself as one of the top right-backs in the Premier League and is a senior figure for the Toffees, having just turned 28.
Here's a look at his numbers this season compared with Fabinho's, courtesy of Squawka:
| Apps | 8 | 5 |
| Minutes | 650 | 450 |
| Tackles | 24 | 15 |
| Take-Ons | 9 | 11 |
| Interceptions | 12 | 8 |
| Clearances | 13 | 13 |
| Goals | 4 | 1 |
| Chances Created | 5 | 2 |
| Pass Completion | 84% | 81% |
The Monaco man is the more explosive and exciting of the two and still has potential to develop even further. He's also a versatile operator and regularly features as a holding midfielder for the Ligue 1 side.
Coleman would still be a defensive upgrade on Valencia, though, and while he would perhaps not be as much of a long-term purchase as Fabinho, he's still three years younger than the Ecuador international.
Delaney suggested the Irishman would be cheaper and more straightforward to sign, but both Monaco and Everton are likely to try to keep their stars—neither would be easy to land, particularly in January.
