
Georges St-Pierre Announces He Has Left UFC: Latest Comments, Reaction
Georges St-Pierre announced on Monday's The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani that he is no longer with the UFC, per the show's producer, Eric Jackman.
Jackman noted the fighter is a free agent after his lawyer terminated his previous contract.
However, the UFC released the following statement, perย Patrick Wyman of Bleacher Report: "Georges St-Pierre remains under an existing agreement with Zuffa, LLC as his MMA promoter. Zuffa intends to honor its agreement with St-Pierre and reserves its rights under the law to have St-Pierre do the same."

According toย Marc Raimondiย of MMA Fighting, who summarized St-Pierre's appearance on the show, GSP said his previous contract with the UFC was from 2011 and a potential new one was in the works, "but talks fell apart" after the company was sold to WME-IMG.ย That sale occurred in July.
St-Pierre said he was offered a fight with Robbie Lawler, per Raimondi, but after a July defeat via knockout, Lawler has temporarily stepped away from the Octagon.
According toย Simon Headย of Theย Sun, UFC President Dana White recently said St-Pierre would not fight at UFC 206 and indicated the veteran didn't have the mentality to remain a UFC fighter. Shaheen Al-Shatti of MMA Fightingย shared St-Pierre's response:
On Monday, St-Pierre also said most fighters will leave the sport "broke mentally, physically and financially," according to Scott Harris of Bleacher Report.
"Most fighters are starving, which is good for the UFC," he added, per Brett Okamotoย of ESPN.com.ย "If your employees are starving, they are easier to control."ย
The UFC's officialย websiteย lists St-Pierre's record as 25-2. The 35-year-old former welterweight champion hasn't fought since a split-decision victory over Johny Hendricks in November 2013.
