Real Madrid Transfer News: Latest Rumours on Sergio Ramos and Casemiro

Tom SunderlandOct 11, 2016

Chelsea have reportedly been put on high alert after Spanish sources said Real Madrid stalwart Sergio Ramos will be allowed to leave the club. Meanwhile, midfielder Casemiro has pledged his loyalty to Los Blancos and insisted he will never represent Barcelona.

According to Spanish outlet Diario Gol (h/t the Daily Star's Thomas McIlroy), Real president Florentino Perez "no longer considers Ramos untouchable," and Chelsea have emerged as potential suitors for the Spain international.

A Ramos exit is almost unthinkable considering the centre-back only signed a new five-year contract last year, not to mention the fact he was made club captain following Iker Casillas' departure to FC Porto.

That being said, there is cause to reason Los Merengues are better off without the veteran, as the statistics suggest Real are more capable without his services, via Bleacher Report UK:

It's well-founded that Chelsea were in the hunt for central defenders this past summer, and it was only at the 11th hour that the west Londoners settled on a deal to bring David Luiz back from Paris Saint-Germain.

Blues manager Antonio Conte has already delved into the possibility of playing three at the back at Stamford Bridge, and a defender of Ramos' qualitydespite not being fine-tuned in that formationcould aid the cause.

There he would be linking up alongside the likes of Luiz, Branislav Ivanovic, Gary Cahill and Kurt Zouma, as well as Andreas Christensen should Chelsea keep the youngster once he returns from his loan at Borussia Monchengladbach.

It's difficult to imagine Real without Ramos present given he's now in his 12th season with the club, having arrived in Madrid in 2005, but Goal's Ben Hayward recently further outlined the 30-year-old as a liability:

Elsewhere, Real's star anchor, Casemiro, has ruled out the possibility of joining the club's most hated rivals, Barcelona, and illustrated his love for representing Los Blancos.

The 24-year-old Brazilian spoke to Spanish radio station Onda Cero this week and detailed the affection he now has for the city that adopted him three-and-a-half years ago, when he first moved to Spain (h/t Goal's Peter Hanson):

"

I'll never play in Barcelona, because in Spain I am a Real Madrid supporter.

Real Madrid is much more than I expected. I love waking up in the morning and going to Valdebebas [Madrid's training base].

I love being with the players, joking, working, learning. I try to live football every day.

Real Madrid is my life today.

"

Casemiro is currently on the injured list at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, and manager Zinedine Zidane has come to feel the pinch without the services of his specialist midfielder, who brings a skill set to the squad no-one else can match.

Real Madrid supporters can feel confident knowing one of the squad's more underrated stars is enjoying his work in the capital and is ready to fight for Los Blancos upon his return—and Los Blancos only.
