Recap
Van Gerwen took the first set comfortably, sealing it 3-1 when Whitlock needed six darts to land his opening double.
The Australian hit back in the second set, coolly finishing on 65 to claim the deciding leg and level the match.
Whitlock found himself down 2-0 in the third set, but after crashing home a ton, he then produced more magic to force a decider, as PDC Darts shared:
Mighty Mike came out on top in that leg, though, and was able to see out the match as he took the final set.
Nevertheless, News.com.au's Daniel Sankey reserved praise for the Wizard:
Van Gerwen also hailed his opponent's efforts, via PDC Darts:
A rapid start saw Huybrechts race through the first three legs to the take the opening set against Anderson.
The world champion quickly improved, firing home 124 and 141 checkouts on his way to equalising in the second set.
Anderson maintained that momentum through the third set and into the fourth as he moved ahead, per Live Darts:
Eventually, despite faltering at the end, the Flying Scotsman was able to stumble over the line, via Sky Sports Darts:
He wasn't overly enthused with his performance and acknowledged the need to improve to progress further, per Live Darts:
Van Barneveld was at his clinical best on Thursday as he swept aside Van de Pas in three sets, dropping just a single leg along the way.
The Dutchman raced through the first six legs, including a 110 checkout. Van de Pas was eventually able to stop the rot in style, per Live Darts:
However, it proved to be little more than a brief respite, as Barney won the next three to complete his crushing win. Van Barneveld is eagerly anticipating the semi-finals:
Gurney had a chance to claim the first set against Chisnall, but he failed to hit double 15. Chisnall swiftly punished the profligacy and then took the decisive leg to move ahead.
The pair produced some high-quality darts in the next set, as Sky Sports Darts shared:
The Englishman claimed all three legs, though, to move up 2-0. Gurney responded in kind, per PDC Darts:
Chisnall was able to regain his composure to see off the Northern Irishman's challenge in the fourth set.
It's difficult to see his overcoming Van Gerwen, however—it may be an all-Dutch final, with Mighty Mike and Barney facing off, which would be an incredible showdown, given how they're playing.
