Recap
Aleksandar Kolarov set Spurs on their way with an own goal after just nine minutes, and Spurs cruised to the win from that point onward, controlling proceedings in midfield and finding a second first-half goal through Dele Alli.
Victor Wanyama was the team's big hero in midfield, neutralising the City danger, and Spurs could have won by more than two goals, as Erik Lamela missed a penalty.
Bleacher Report UK pulled out a meme from last year after the final whistle:
The Citizens produced a tame display and were beaten up by Spurs' physical approach, and they lacked any true penetration in the attacking third, a likely result of Kevin De Bruyne's absence.
Per the team's official Twitter account, manager Pep Guardiola hopes his side can learn from Sunday's loss:
Arsenal kept pace with their neighbours with a 1-0 win over Burnley, but the final result didn't come without any controversy.
The Clarets contained Arsenal's vaunted attack until deep in injury time, when Laurent Koscielny broke the deadlock from close range. The defender appeared to handle the ball before it crossed the line, however, and replays also suggested he was offside when Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain fired the ball into his path.
The Washington Post's Simon Evans though Koscielny's reaction immediately after scoring the goal said it all:
As shared by ESPN FC's Mattias Karen, the man himself sided with the official after the final whistle:
Burnley rightly felt aggrieved, as the hosts had put together an impressive showing up until that point, dominating the battles in midfield and limiting the output of Mesut Ozil and Santi Cazorla.
Joe Allen secured a point for Stoke at Old Trafford, as Manchester United's early-season struggles continued on Sunday.

Anthony Martial had given his team the lead, and the Red Devils appeared to be headed for a close win until Allen pounced on a mistake from David De Gea inside the final 10 minutes.
Per United's official Twitter account, midfielder Ander Herrera didn't understand how his team failed to win that match:
Leicester City failed to find the net at home against Southampton and, after seven matches, the defending champions find themselves down in 12th place, a dreadful start to the new campaign.
