Fisher Denies Interest in LSU Job
Wednesday, Sept. 28
"I love this university, and I plan on being here for a long time," Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher said, via Jared Shanker of ESPN.com. "I love Florida State, and that's all I'm saying. Anything else is clutter and does not concern me and is not involving me."
On Monday, Fisher said he hadn't been contacted and would not talk about LSU, where he had served as an assistant coach.
Meyer Comments on LSU Opening
Tuesday, Sept. 27
According to ESPN.com's Austin Ward, Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer said the following regarding where he stands with regard to the Tigers' search for a new head coach after Miles' firing Sunday: "No, I have not been contacted. I'm going to be the coach at Ohio State."
Meyer has served as Ohio State's head coach since 2012, posting a remarkable record of 53-4. He led OSU to a national title at the conclusion of the 2014 season, and the team went 12-1 to go along with a Fiesta Bowl win last year.
LSU Still Attractive Position Despite Struggles
Ed Orgeron is currently serving as LSU's interim head coach until a permanent option is found.
The Tigers shouldn't have much trouble attracting big names to their open vacancy. The school still manages to attract top-level recruits and has a passionate and loyal fanbase.
As long as the Tigers are patient, they shouldn't have to settle on a second-tier coach, though upgrading from Miles could present a challenge.
