A night race on the hot and humid Marina Bay Street Circuit with its 23 corners, the Singapore Grand Prix poses a unique challenge for the drivers and often makes for an entertaining spectacle.
Hamilton has won there twice, topping the podium in 2009 and 2014, though he was forced to retire last year. Rosberg, meanwhile, could only manage fourth place in his absence.
A poor start cost Hamilton in Italy last time out, and he's eager to avoid a repeat this time around.
Per BBC Sport's Andrew Benson, he said: "If you gauge my season, then the championship could be lost by starts. From a lot of pole positions, I've lost the race from the start. You do all the work during the weekend, and then two seconds or whatever it is, has determined some of the races for me."

The three-time champion has started seven races on pole this season but won just three of those—a record he will need to improve upon over the remainder of the campaign, starting in Singapore should he top qualifying.
As for Rosberg, without being particularly spectacular, he has capitalised on Hamilton's errors—there's a lot to be said for showing consistency in that regard, ensuring his rival's slip-ups prove costly.
The pair firmly comprise the two-horse race for the drivers' championship, and only Max Verstappen has beaten them to first place this season. However, they could face a strong challenge from Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel on Sunday.
Singapore has been a happy hunting ground for the German, who has four wins at Marina Bay in the last five years—his win there in 2015 was also the last time he took the chequered flag.
Unsurprisingly, he's the most successful driver in the field at the circuit, as Formula 1 revealed:
The four-time world champion has had his share of podium finishes this year, having finished second or third three times apiece.
On a circuit where he typically does well, he could be able to turn in a win.
