Evian Championship 2016: Tee Times, Dates, TV Schedule, LPGA Prize Money
The Evian Championship in Evian-les-Bains, France, is one of the highlights of the LPGA Tour. This $3.25 million event features the best women golfers in the world, and it is the fifth and final major of the golf season.
The Rolex Annika Major Award, named after all-time great Annika Sorenstam, is up for grabs at the season's final major. Lydia Ko has the lead in the standings, as she has one victory and three top-three performances altogether in the majors this year. She has a slight lead over Ariya Jutanugarn, who has a win and two other top-four finishes in the majors.
The other contenders are Brooke Henderson and Brittany Lang, who both have major wins but have not been anywhere near as consistent in the other majors as Ko or Jutanugarn.
Ko may have a big advantage going into the tournament that runs from Thursday through Sunday. Ko was victorious in the Evian Championship last year, and none of the other contenders even have as much as a top-10 finish in France.
Ko has been at her best in the Evian Championship. In addition to her win last year, she finished second in 2013 and tied for eighth in 2014.

Ko shot a final round of 63 to win last year's tournament, an event she won by six strokes. Ko was 18 at the time, and that made her the youngest major champion in the history of women's golf. She used the momentum from that event to have a sensational 2016 season, as she has won five events this year.
Ko recalled how emotional that first major title was for her in a conversation with LPGA Communications:
"Yeah, a couple teardrops. I didn't totally cry-cry. But I kind of got a little overwhelmed, and I could kind of feel tears coming when [caddie] Jason [Hamilton] said, enjoy the moment, coming down onto the green. I kind of felt back over the whole week and all the questions I've been asked. But in a way I was relieved. But to kind of have that putt go in, I think just everything dropped.
"
Ko has won nearly $2.4 million and is the leading money winner on the LPGA Tour. Jutanugarn has won more than $2.1 million, and they are the only two golfers on the tour to win more than $2 million this season.
Henderson has won $1.35 million and is the third-leading money winner, and she is followed by Sei Young Kim and Anna Nordqvist to round out the top five. Both Kim and Nordqvist have won more than $1.2 million.
Ko will play with Hyo Joo Kim and Suzann Pettersen at 7:20 a.m. ET. Lang, Henderson and Eun Jeong Seong will tee off at 6:58 a.m., while Jutanugarn will play with Julia Engstrom and In Gee Chun at 2:18 a.m. Here's a look at tee-off times for the full field.
Ko and Jutanugarn have been the two best players on the LPGA tour this year, and it seems likely both will be strong contenders in the Evian Championship.
