The Hardcore Revolution: Episode #5
This weeks episode of The Revolution will be looking at the absurdness of the World Heavyweight Title story-line, the lack of ECW on major PPV's and Raw's continual lackluster from guest host's and it's "real-ness".
So without any further adeu let us begin the fourth installment of The Hardcore Revolution.
Since the last time I wrote this Column Jeff Hardy has been removed from the WWe, Rey Mysterio went on suspension, the Undertaker has returned, DX has returned, and John Cena finally has become the WWe Champion yet again.
Now Let's get down to business.
Points Of Conversation
1. Why Does ECW Get The Shaft On PPV's?
In the last group of pay-per-views there have only been one ECW match on each and this up and coming PPV there is not one at all. I understand that there is "much" going on with the other two brands and their Soap Opera Style Storylines, but some of your best performers are on ECW and they deserve the spotlight.
I feel as though ECW is considered equal to FCW except that it is nationally syndicated. It is a place to let new young talent get their feet wet without getting in the pool.
But why isn't ECW the "pool"!
Christian, William Regal, Tommy Dreamer, Shelton Benjamin, Zack Ryder, Ezekiel Jackson, Vladimir Kozlov, Yoshi ( whatever his last name is), Sheamus, and surprisingly enough the best GM for some time Tiffany.
These are all the talent on this show and not one is on this upcoming PPV card.
Instead we have two mid-card title matches, a diva's title match with only one actual real wrestler in the match, and Drew Macintrye who hasn't even had a real match on Smackdown yet against R-Truth, a man who has been crapped on since he left TNA and rejoined the WWe.
If it makes sense to you why there is no ECW title match on the HIAC Card please let me know.
2. Has Punk v Taker Been Promoted Right?
The next point baffles me that CM Punk, the Straightedge Superstar, is a villain. Now I love the fact that Punk is a heel, but really you make the Straighedge guy the heel. What moral values does that teach our youth.
I like that Taker returned the night Jeff Hardy finished with the Company, it was a smart move and the Title became the focal point of the whole thing, but up until Tonight's match there has been no real reason as to why Taker should hate Punk.
The "screwjob" angle hasn't even reached it's full potential yet and they only have Punk barely squeak out of danger.
Is it really a good build?
Has CM Punk come off looking better?
Is the Undertaker being portrayed the way he should be?
As much as I don't like redoing gags like the screwjob, this story is working out amazingly. I just hope they keep in going by having Punk beat Taker at his own game, the Cell.
3. Does Any One Else Find John Cena Fake?
John Cena is self-proclaimed as real. He thinks of himself as a role model for kids and has been the biggest tweener I've ever seen.
Have you ever watched a John Cena match and walked away shocked about the moves he used or did you call the "victory routine" before it ever happened.
He has become stale, rigid and predictable.
I give him credit because he is a great athlete and is a physical amazement.
But there comes a point where the man has to choose a side and become something other than who he is in real life.
We watch wrestling for amazing feats of athleticism and riveting story.
When who they really are gets integrated into the show then it becomes too much like crappy reality TV.
I just think Cena wears a great big mask from who he is on the inside and needs to figure out who he is as a wrestler.
With all of these points explained, there is not much else to talk about in wrestling right now.
If there is anything you think that needs to be pointed out thats missing from my column let me know and I'll see if it makes the next one
As always "Long Live ECW and Long Live The Extreme."
