Gennady Golovkin Next Fight: GGG Wants Billy Joe Saunders After Kell Brook Win
Gennady Golovkin improved to 36-0 (33 KOs) with a technical knockout over the previously undefeated Kell Brook (36-1) on Saturday night at the O2 Arena in London, and the middleweight champion made it clear after the win that he wants to face another British boxer for his next fight.
Speaking to reporters, Golovkin disclosed that he is eyeing a showdown with 27-year-old Billy Joe Saunders (23-0, 12 KOs), so he can unify all of the belts in the middleweight division.
"I need my last belt," he said, according to CBS Sports' Robby Kalland.

Saunders responded to Golovkin's challenge on Sunday:
Before Saturday's fifth-round victory—which came when Brook's corner threw in the towel—Golovkin didn't hide his desire to square off against Saunders instead of trading blows with Saul "Canelo" Alvarez.
"I would rather fight Saunders," he said, per the Daily Star's Chris McKenna. "Absolutely it would mean more for me than Canelo."
Golovkin also preached about the importance of collecting as many straps as possible. He owns the IBF, IBO, WBC and WBA middleweight belts, but Saunders holds the elusive WBO title.
"I told you I don't want the 'pound-for-pound' fighter," he added. "I need my belts. I need to hold them. It is my dream to have all the belts. Right now, it is Saunders. Canelo is Canelo. After Saunders, then Canelo, but first Saunders."
According to Yahoo Sports' Kevin Iole, Golovkin may not have made the savviest decision by discussing his intense interest in a fight with Saunders:
If both Golovkin's and Saunders' camps can hammer out the details, Saunders sounds ready to go through with a potential prime-time bout, per World Boxing News' Matt Horan:
"The super-fight with Golovkin is the big one and the one that can change everything for me and my family. I want the fight and I understand that he is one of the biggest names in boxing so it shouldn’t be all my own way. Even so, I have a lot of say and there are just a couple of little things I want my way, then we can fight. ... If everyone is paid well and we have decent judges, I am happy to fight.
"
A showdown with Alvarez would be more compelling and serve as a great hype machine for the sport, but Golovkin's intentions appear clear.
With 23 straight knockouts to his name, Golovkin would enter a potential showdown with Saunders as a heavy favorite.
